Buffy: He ran away, right? Giles: Sort of, more. turned and swept out majestically, I suppose. Said I didn't concern him. Buffy: So a mythic triumph over a completely indifferent foe? Giles: Well, I'm not dead or unconscious, so I say bravo for me.

Lost 2: Tied to a Tree in a Jungle of Mystery

[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

Because books.

when they showed him using the Motorola RAZR, i figured it out because they've been fairly careful about props like that in the past and it really jumped out at me that that phone wasn't available pre-crash.

::sits proudly next to tiggz::

I said that, too! Actually, I said, "Did they have Razrs then?" and Ben (my ten-year-old) rolled his eyes and said, "Of course, Mom, but maybe he decided *not* to shave." Heh.

Despite everything, I love a lot of these characters. As ass-pully and eye-rolly as it can get (and despite a few episodes where I was really firmly quitting now, I swear it, cold turkey, man, no more), this show always manages to throw some kind of curveball that hooks again. I like the idea of them flashing *back* to the island next season, because why not?

Also, I think with a commitment for three more short seasons, the writers can really plan how to wrap up everything, and leave themselves one open door to continue through if the show goes longer than that. So I'm hoping we can get some resolution for all the various questions (although I feel like I need to make a chart to keep track of which ones have been answered already, somewhat or completely, because my brain = a rusty sieve lately).

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I thought the Razr was a prop continuity error, or maybe a my memory error. Future just did not even cross my mind.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Actually, I said, "Did they have Razrs then?" and Ben (my ten-year-old) rolled his eyes and said, "Of course, Mom, but maybe he decided *not* to shave." Heh.

Hee. Heheehee.

Yeah, I totally didn't work out the future is now thing. I think the SO did, though.

It's funny, though, because of my time away, I don't now know what is still wanky and what was purportedly resolved. Like the OMGWTFPOLARBEAR. Didn't realize that one had been addressed.

Anyway, it's crazy, and I guess we'll watch to see what happens.

What is even happening?

I said that, too! Actually, I said, "Did they have Razrs then?" and Ben (my ten-year-old) rolled his eyes and said, "Of course, Mom, but maybe he decided *not* to shave." Heh.

HA! Too funny.

I didn't even see the phone. I mean, I saw that he used a phone, but I didn't see it. I just figured it was the future/present because he looked like shit.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Something I saw in another forum, and have no real idea about its significance because I kinda stopped watching the show, but thought it might be of interest.

The text of the newspaper clipping:

"The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue. Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft. Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room. According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Lantham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son. Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."

Whitefonted due to as-noted cluenessness. Should be deleted if it's somehow not something extractable from what was onscreen.

Art Crawl!!!

Well, I could see how Jon Lantham could be John Locke's psuedonym. (Although Jeremy Bentham was a name so full of possibilities.)

Is Jon Lantham a philosopher?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Well shit. If Lantham is a castaway - and one we already know, that narrows down the field to perhaps 1 or 2 people.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

I've been thinking about it some more, and the flash forwards are pretty vague -- vague enough they can fit characters and events to explain things.

Not if they want to play fair. The newspaper has been identified as one from April 2007.

Dunno if anybody picked up on this, but Ben's X-Rays earlier this season were dated 2005. But they're supposed to be 2004. I'm pretty sure that was a production error.

No idea how involved with Lost JJ still is, but I suspect some of the madder shit comes from him. He loves his WTF moments.

By the way, for those who didn't see it: [link]

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oh, thanks, Kevin. I hadn't seen that, though I'd read about the Numbers on Wikipedia or Lostpedia or whatever. Iiinteresting.

For those who haven't seen this, though: Rachel Blake at Comic-Con. I wish we hadn't gotten to San Diego too late and missed the panel, even though I would've been terribly confused and thought she was some deranged fan.

Bwah - yes. I'm surprised so much of the audience seem to get it. There's another Rachel Blake thingy here where she meets the Hanso bloke: [link]
