Over at TWOP they're suggesting that the stuff we're calling the flashforward is actually the story and that the island stuff is the flashback and that is the big change that ABC was advertising.

Lost 2: Tied to a Tree in a Jungle of Mystery
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

Hummm. That could be an interesting reset. Since they've got so many seasons left (even if they are short ones) it would give them some room to go back and forth between pre-crash, island, rescue, post-rescue.
Possible funeral people: Ben, Locke, Sawyer, Michael?
Screencap of the newspaper clipping.
So, it doesn't look from the clipping like it could be Locke or Sawyer, unless they were using an alias.
I know. And the man from New York? That makes it sound like it was Michael.

Sawyer? Using an alias? You don't say!
Although someone here already read it as "Jeremy Bentham," who is a philosopher, which would be more Locke's style. But it could be Ben, too.
Kate specifically said, "Why would I go to the funeral?" Which makes it seem like whoever died personally offended her (and, you know, Ben kept her in a cage and all that).
Didn't Michael betray all the Losties who sailed around the Island?
The Internet has pegged the date of the newspaper as April 5, 2007. So they'd been off the Island for, what, almost three years? Or two years? I think someone on TWoP calculated present time as Christmas 2004.
Okay, did ABC have a Q&A thing with the producers after the show? I heard that was the original plan.
I want to know what time line they're going to take from now. If it stays in 2004esque timeline, they will have to do everything leading up to the Kate/Jack scenes in 2007. That's calling writing yourself into a corner.
Personally -- and I had suspicions about this, but wasn't plot spoiled -- I think they've done the reset switch. It solves a lot of the mythology problems they've got, and is a bit Aliasish. Basically, they can take the next season as they see fit I suspect.
That said? I think the last hour of that was outstanding in places. I did have a problem with the not knowing who to trust, though. Ben's a great character.
Someone in the TWoP thread (it's a good but annoying read: I think they've basically guessed EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER to be in the coffin) made the interesting comment that we may look back at the first three seasons of Lost to be the plodding introduction to the real story.
How do you think this resets in any way, Kevin? How does this solve any mythology problems? Unless you think they'll really shift the major narrative into 2007.
