Hee.
I want to make beef chili this weekend. Who has a good recipe they want to share with me?

I think I am going to create a gorcery list and clear off my Tivo. Those are both useful, right?
VERY useful.
My chili recipe:
One pound or so ground beef, cooked with a chopped onion, maybe some garlic
One or two cans of beans (pink, red, black, whatever)
One can tomatoes
Some tomato paste
Some mustard
Some chipotles in adobo
A ton of chili powder, additional cumin, hot sauce, whatever.
Maybe a green pepper and/or a carrot. Cook together. That's pretty much it.
But, but, but that recipe requires judgement, or guess work, or stuff like that!
I love Jesse's recipe.
I am vaguely considering looking to see how many bags of brownie mix we have left. If we have two, I think I may cook brownies for my students tomorrow.
OK, so it's 3 tablespoons of tomato paste, a teaspoon of mustard, 4 tablespoons of chili powder, 1 or 2 chipotles.
And it's not guess work, it's tasting.
Mmm... chili. Maybe I'll make some tomorrow myself.
Hee. Tasting is good. I can do tasting.
I'm terrible with the measuring. Even when I fake like I'm using a recipe, I make half of it up. I got it from my mother.
I actually do that a lot too. It just takes me a couple of tries with a new recipe to get it how I like it.
I am terrible about following recipes, too. That's why I suck at baking. Baking requires precision.
Hrm. Not sure it will make enough brownies even if I double the batch.
Yeah, I can do OK with baking, but I'm not that into it. And actually, the thing I bake most often is banana bread, which I use a recipe for the base of, but then add and subtract some stuff anyway. Not that I've made it in forever.
