This is why I hate UPS deliveries. At least FedEx has decent hours (plus a facility nearer me). And they've never jacked me around by leaving slips with "signature required" unchecked yet talking down to me on the phone for not having signed the slips.
Am tempted to put in Special Delivery Instructions: "My tiny overlord is very unhappy."
Snerk.

You might see if you can get a direct number to that facility. The one I have to go to on occasion has hours like that, but I've also heard the desk person there say they'll be open later than the 5:30 would indicate. YUPSFacilityMV, but it's worth a shot before you schedule time off (or choke a bitch).
Wouldn't UPS make a killing if they scheduled late special deliveries between 6-8PM? I'd pay ten bucks a pop for that. Because before I had an account at a UPS store, I could never ever get a package from them. They're asking me to take off early from work to get a package, which will cost me up to 4 times as much in pay. Why not allow me to schedule a delivery between 6-8PM, for an additional fee? I'd totally pay it.
I got a UPS package at my house at 8pm the other night. It was awesome.
ION,
Dear World In General:
Many of us would really prefer not to have to choke a bitch. Why do you keep making this necessary?!?!
That said, if you have a tracking number, you can get them to hold it at one of their locations and you can pick it up. Unless you get stuff delivered to you at work, and only then if your work has regular UPS delivieries/pickups, UPS is a major PIA.
oh, they are of the suck. they like to leave packages at my leasing office, which is only open from 9-5. they are open on saturdays, but I hate to wait for a package that got delivered on a Monday, and I have to get up and get dressed before noon on a saturday to get the package.
When I lived in Hoboken, NJ, UPS would park a truck in front of the subway station, so that anyone commuting from NY could pick up their package on the way home from work.

Yes. I would like an answer for this too please.

Me three.
retail has totally shaped the way I think about calling in sick.
Ah, that explains a great deal. You're sounding like a co-worker who had a cold and wouldn't stay home, and it got worse and she wouldn't stay home, and after a month and at least one visit to ER, her doctor told her she wasn't allowed to get out of bed for a couple of days.
It's not a personal failing to be sick, and sick leave isn't an indulgence. If your being out for a few days causes the office to fall into chaos, they ought to be paying you more. So it'll be good for them to figure that out.
Rest. Get juice and tea. There's some kind of Tylenol flu product that I swear made me feel like mom had tucked me in, soothed my fevered brow, and then knocked me out with an elephant tranq. So I recommend that. Oh, and order in some hot & sour soup.
I've had this problem before, and it's based on who sent it out, not on who's receiving it.UPS claims that, but I don't believe them. There are a few companies I order from regularly, and sometimes they demand a signature, and sometimes they'll leave it at the door. It's definitely not based on the price of whatever is getting delivered. I once came home and found a box from Amazon, and a notice about a second box from Amazon. It's insane and I hate them. Grr.
