Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't have retail to blame for my reluctance to call in sick. But thank DOG I can work from home, even if I do still feel like I'm abusing it. Or the gurney in the ER. Just thinking about calling in sick and doing no work makes me anxious. Which is why, with all the lack of gruntle with the post-concussive shit, I've not yet taken a sick day.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Strega is 100% right on about the sick-leave thing. I've never used all my sick leave time, even the year I was out sick for two weeks. (Part of it was planned vacation, part of it was holidays, but still.) They give it for a reason.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

If your being out for a few days causes the office to fall into chaos, they ought to be paying you more.

I feel like I oughta have this tattooed somewhere. Not if "somewhere" is on me or other people.

Art Crawl!!!

This story is both cool and kinda yucky. . . fossilized footprints of a giant water scorpion were found in Scotland.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

This is why I hate UPS deliveries. At least FedEx has decent hours (plus a facility nearer me). And they've never jacked me around by leaving slips with "signature required" unchecked yet talking down to me on the phone for not having signed the slips.

And since I got home after 11 last night, and my alarm went off at a quarter to 6 this morning, I didn't have the brainpower to sign the slip and leave it on the door. I'm going to do that on my way to the doctor this afternoon, but with my luck, they'll probably try to deliver it 20 minutes before I get there.

If your being out for a few days causes the office to fall into chaos, they ought to be paying you more.

Considering the chaos that erupted when I was out sick on Tuesday, I definitely need a raise.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

a six-legged water scorpion measuring 5 feet long and 3 feet wide

Holy cow! That's so cooool!

I foresee a ton more Sci-Fi Saturday night movies out of this.

It's hammering down rain here: I got soaked on the way in. And I'm grumpy and don't want to work, but I'm taking tomorrow off and am out of town all weekend, so I should do some work.

Allyson, I'm glad you stayed home. Shrift, my sympathies on the UPS issue.

I usually get packages delivered to me at work, just for these reasons, but not every office is cool with that. And now I'm worried because Amazon says some of the stuff I ordered as door prizes for the company holiday party may not arrive for 6 business days. Which would be after the holiday party. Darn Amazon's associates program, anyway.
