I'm sorry, dad. You know I would never have tried to save River's life if I had known there was a dinner party at risk.

Sounds like typical UPS to me. I've had this problem before, and it's based on who sent it out, not on who's receiving it. Basically, Apple said UPS couldn't just leave it without getting a signature.

Yeah, my beef is partly with Apple, because they didn't tell me they were sending it UPS until it was too late, and they also didn't tell me that they'd be sending it signature required.

Hi, Apple. Please for to keep me informed.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Dear Lady,

When I say to you "Your cell phone is cutting out, and I can't understand you. Please call back" The correct thing to do is not to start yelling into the phone. It doesn't make what you're saying any more clear, but it does hurt my ear. I'm still only hearing bits of words, just much much louder.

This is doubly irritating when after straining to make out what you're saying, and repeating everything I say five or six times, you finally say, "I can't hear you. I'm on my cell phone. I'll have to call you back."

Next time, just call me back when I ask, as this will assist me in my effort not to bludgeon you with my handset.

Thanks, DJ

Well, calling UPS was spectacularly unhelpful. Now I'm submitting a delivery change request on their website.

I was watching "Good Eats" last night, and Alton Brown used Dr. Pepper to baste his ham (he also threw in about a cup or so of sweet pickle juice). He said any flavorful liquid would work, but Dr. Pepper has the sweetness and the extra kick he prefers.

Just noticed that the operating hours of the facility they want to hold my iPod at are:

M-F 9:30 A.M. - 5:30 P.M.
Sat closed
Sun closed

I'm never getting my iPod, am I?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm never getting my iPod, am I?

This is why I hate UPS deliveries. At least FedEx has decent hours (plus a facility nearer me). And they've never jacked me around by leaving slips with "signature required" unchecked yet talking down to me on the phone for not having signed the slips.

Snerk.

You might see if you can get a direct number to that facility. The one I have to go to on occasion has hours like that, but I've also heard the desk person there say they'll be open later than the 5:30 would indicate. YUPSFacilityMV, but it's worth a shot before you schedule time off (or choke a bitch).

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Wouldn't UPS make a killing if they scheduled late special deliveries between 6-8PM? I'd pay ten bucks a pop for that. Because before I had an account at a UPS store, I could never ever get a package from them. They're asking me to take off early from work to get a package, which will cost me up to 4 times as much in pay. Why not allow me to schedule a delivery between 6-8PM, for an additional fee? I'd totally pay it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I got a UPS package at my house at 8pm the other night. It was awesome.

ION,

Dear World In General:

Many of us would really prefer not to have to choke a bitch. Why do you keep making this necessary?!?!

That said, if you have a tracking number, you can get them to hold it at one of their locations and you can pick it up. Unless you get stuff delivered to you at work, and only then if your work has regular UPS delivieries/pickups, UPS is a major PIA.

oh, they are of the suck. they like to leave packages at my leasing office, which is only open from 9-5. they are open on saturdays, but I hate to wait for a package that got delivered on a Monday, and I have to get up and get dressed before noon on a saturday to get the package.
