Ugh. I hate to say this, and I am a little conflicted about it, but I don't think it's ok for a pharmacist to refuse a legally prescribed medicine for any reason, barring that they just don't stock it. There is no other area in which we allow for your personal principles to supercede your job. Were I a gas station attendant, and I thought, as I do, that Hummers were irresponsible cars to the environment and a symbol of a lot that is wrong with our frivolous consuption, and refused to sell gas to anyone who drove one, I would be fired. If your job is to dispense medicine to people, that's what you do. You don't get to judge them. If that's what you want, be something else.

Why do you hate to say that? I totally agree with that. You shouldn't be allowed to be a pharmacist if you don't serve the needs of the patient first. Period.

Plei, good luck with the contract work and with Lilybean's daycare. She'll definitely adapt when it comes down to it. My friend's daughter did--and she was a total boob girl, too. I hope it doesn't stress her out too much.

While we're on parental-type topics, what are the cool gifts for the 6-month-old and almost-3 crowds? Any books or toys anyone would recommend? I have tiny relatives to buy for.

Seconding Plei's suggestion of Robeez for the six month old. The pair I got as a gift for Owen was the BEST! For the almost-three, Leap Frog, Little Tikes and Fisher Price activity toys can be had for reasonable amounts $10-$20 and are LOADS of fun. Legos make transitional sizes for that age, too, which are awesome (so says, Owen). Fun children's books are also cool gifts.

Ellie and I had a very nice lunch with flea yesterday. It was nice to feel like a part of urban society again for a bit. Also, Ellie was a research subject for a bit yesterday. They showed her lots of red circles on a videoscreen and tested her understanding of relationships or greater than and less than. Then, we drove back towards home and stopped to vist my neighbor and her 36-hour old baby. He was so small looking and light. It was fun to see her new baby. It was also fun to see how far we have come in 6 months. (Ellie was 6 months on Sunday.)
