Wow, the job and daycare gods smiled on you at once! That was convenient.

I don't know that it's possible to be prepared to leave your baby in daycare for the first time. Even when you are desperate to go back to work and very unhappy alone with an infant, as I was and you, I think, are not. But it will be okay, and the pump is a good pump, lemme tell ya.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Oh, and Bec's marrying TOG

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Good luck Plei!

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

How will you transition Lilybean from the magical boobie?

With the magical pumped boobie juice! And I may try these: [link]

But it will be okay, and the pump is a good pump, lemme tell ya.

Which reminds me, I need to pick up some more accessories for it and some more storage devices...

Thank dog for online shopping.

Good luck, Plei!

While we're on parental-type topics, what are the cool gifts for the 6-month-old and almost-3 crowds? Any books or toys anyone would recommend? I have tiny relatives to buy for.

Hmm. The baby-aged ones seem to dig the wrapping paper more than the stuff. Adorable hats are good. Robeez (shoes for infants that ROCK) are good. Chewable stuffed monkeys that double as teething toys appear to be quite popular.

Almost 3... building blocks?

These seemed cool -- [link] I just like Lee Valley's stuff, though.

I just went to a birthday party for a three-year-old. Presents she seemed to like were building blocks, a Play-Doh activity set, and a stuffed monkey.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Well, holy cow. How do you feel about that?

Funnily enough, this one was actually a bit of a blow. I expected it, you understand (pretty much from when she mentioned getting the divorce sorted out), and I'm happy she's happy; but it still affected me when she confirmed it. Ithink it's just that I've been a bit miserable over the last week or so. The online dating thing hasn't been going anywhere, and I've just read a rather depressing book, The Amateur Marriage.

I'm ok now, though. Bounced around some different perspectives to try on, that sort of thing. But it'll still be weird to think of her with a different surname.
