For your information, I searched (but did not actually read) the FAQ page before posting but found no reference to carrots.
I will admit I didn't even search. I read the whole FAQ long ago, before delurking (or, well, most of it), but my brain didn't hold onto the carrot info.
"The Wire" likes urban carrots. Pelecanos likes funky Greek carrots.
David Simon likes gritty Balmer carrots.
I hope that came across as the joke it was intended to be. I'm always a bit worried about my tone coming across, esp. post-kerfuffle.
I think, if you look at them squinty-eyed, it's the same. Aimee demonstrated the obsession, with an added bit of definition #2: MUST respond to EVERY post to explain how it's really all about ME, who loves BOB.
DED is more an internet-wide thing, and I'm guessing it's because someone thought it was cute and it just caught on, like "My Hed is Pasted on YAY"
You're fine, Stephanie.
We're just teasing. It was a later addition to the FAQ.
I hope that came across as the joke it was intended to be.
It totally did. To me, at least.
Just glad I know the deal about Bob and the carrots now.
It was a later addition to the FAQ.
It's not here.
Krav likes exactly what I do. Seems coincidental, but it's more like fate.
(Also, it seems that the phrase means different things to Hec and Aimee.)
Nah, they just phrased it differently.
"[blah] likes carrots" is a default phrase to describe when someone is so obsessed with something that they bring it up all the time, even when it doesn't seem relevant.
Its origin was, in fact, from people who are so obsessed about a new love interest that they talk about that person all the time, even when it doesn't seem relevant. (i.e., "I cooked some carrots the other day, and...." "OMG! Bob likes carrots!!!")
And now it extends to when you're obsessed about anything, and talk about it all the time, and can tie that thing into any conversation.
