(Also, it seems that the phrase means different things to Hec and Aimee.)
Nah, they just phrased it differently.
"[blah] likes carrots" is a default phrase to describe when someone is so obsessed with something that they bring it up all the time, even when it doesn't seem relevant.
Its origin was, in fact, from people who are so obsessed about a new love interest that they talk about that person all the time, even when it doesn't seem relevant. (i.e., "I cooked some carrots the other day, and...." "OMG! Bob likes carrots!!!")
And now it extends to when you're obsessed about anything, and talk about it all the time, and can tie that thing into any conversation.
You know, a lot of Buffista-isms remind me of the Star Trek:TNG episode where Enterprise encountered another group who only spoke in metaphors. Paul Winfield was in that ep.

I miss my Bats Likes Carrots tag from the heady days of obsessive obsession. For men. In capes. And masks.
I also miss NATLBSB. Even if COMM is shorter.
Thank you amy for getting my reference.

Strictly speaking, isn't that an allegory?

So, my sister and I leve tonight. My mom is camped out at my grandparent's house until....just until.
My grandmother informed my sister that the attic is all set up for us.
I don't want to spend the next 5 days watching my grandfather die 24 hrs a day. I don't want to remember him like that. I want to spend lots of time there, yes, but God, if he dies while I'm in that house, it will taint all my memories of it. How do I tell her this?
