I want a book bag.

What kind of bookbag? It just occurred to me that I use this word as a generic- a conveyor of books, with strap(s) so that a human can carry it, so if there is a style of bag called bookbag, I have no idea what it is.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Tim's PA introduced me to Nathan as a friend of Tim's. Which is, you know, fine. But Nathan asks where I know Tim from. Why people gotta ask that question? I'm not sure if the answer "the internet" makes me sound weird, or Tim, but it felt weird, so I said (also true, in a virtual sense) "You know that Tim -- he gets around.

easiest answer? "mutual friends", cause the internet is my friend, yes she is.

Silence means security silence means approval

A brief bitch about the Seattle-King County bus system.

Our area (Broadview and Blue Ridge) has 60-65,000 people in it. We have five buses to serve the area, most of which run every 30 minutes. We have excellent service to downtown, thanks to having Aurora on the eastern boundary.

Unfortunately, we have gawd-awful service to anywhere else in town. UW is two buses from the house, and all of them feature 20+ minute layovers between buses. 20 minutes to stand in the rain waiting for another bus, while places north of us have direct service to campus or places-not-downtown.

There is a park-and-ride, only at 8am it's already at 100% capacity. They're promising that with the Northgate remodel there will be 1000 more slots available for the P'n'R, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I only rant about this because it took me 1 hour, 20 minutes to get to work this morning, thanks to the buses running ahead of schedule and leaving me with the choice of waiting 30 minutes for another bus that doesn't connect to a non-express that takes 40 minutes to make a journey I can drive in 10, or walking half a mile to another bus stop in hopes of getting a bus to Northgate where I will wait 20 minutes for my normal park-n-ride bus. I chose the Northgate option. I'm just happy it wasn't raining.

The city is spending millions on a "trolley" that will take people from downtown to a so-called "biotech hub" which is already served by three buses from downtown that run every five minutes. It has done squat for my end of town, even PULLING STOPS so that the bus runs faster in OTHER PARTS OF TOWN.

Grr. Must. Fire. Mayor. County. Council. NOW.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

But do I have time or inclination?

I want a book bag. I wonder if I could make one? I think the answer is yes. But do I have time or inclination?

Knit or sew? I think Knitty had a bookbag a few issues back.

Yes, I read Knitty and have a penis. I also scratch and like brunette women with breasts and spicy brains. Sue me.

Is it still true that there are no city council members who live north of the Ship Canal, despite the fact that something like 60% of the population of the city does? No wonder we don't get nothin'.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I would guess a book bag would be harder to make, due to the needed sturdiness. But maybe I carry more books than you.

And I can't hide behind my desk, due to the stupid cube situation.

Also, why does my boss ask me for information I don't have? Why doesn't he just ask the people who have it directly?

What Robin said.

I just had shrimp creole for lunch, which was yummy, but now I want to take a nap.
