so unless old coffee has sat in the percolater for days (long enough for the bean oil to go rancid)
One of the engineers at a job I had four or five years ago explained in detail to me how long it takes the caffiene molecule to break down in water, and explained that that is why coffee gets bitter.
There's no explaining why the coffee I just bought here is bitter and greasy right from the get-go, though.
Heh. I posted a request for the CI cupcake recipe in Natter. Weren't cupcakes being discussed there yesterday?
Cash is jonesing for cupcakes.
Folks at the A's blog have nicknamed our rookie pitcher, Joe Blanton, Cupcakes. He's a little on the portly side and there was a picture of him early in the season captioned, "Yes, I
will
have that last cupcake." He's a good young pitcher. Not as good as King Felix, though, who shut down the (admittedly anemic) A's offense last night.

This is adorable.
When I was very little, I asked my dad how Babe Ruth could be a good baseball player. I said, "Daddy, isn't he too fat to run the bases very fast?" My dad replied, "Honey, he didn't have to do much running."
there's little reason to do more than rinse out the coffee pot
Thank you, Theo, for redeeming my slobbishness.
sj, job~ma for TCG!
vw, that is just craxy, but very relief making to hear they actually have the blinking thing.
The Lilybean is, as ever, teh cute. But getting so big! And I want pictures of Tripod Mal. Please?

I think his fastball got up to 99 mph yesterday. Pretty damn amazing. Though given the M's recent luck with young pitchers, I keep expecting his arm to go flying off at the shoulder any game now.

Here too, I think. Did you get the recipe? I can send it to you.
I passed it on, Lee. It's like the tastiest chain mail evah!
My dad replied, "Honey, he didn't have to do much running."
And yet he stole home about six times.
(Okay, admittedly on the back end of a double steal. But still.)

Yeah, he looks like the real deal. Of course, our superstud young pitcher, Rich Harden, has been injured off and on all year. Harden had a couple pitches clocked at 102 mph in one game this year. The mind boggles. Of course, I'd be perfectly content with him throwing 97 mph if he'd just stay in the rotation.
