Today's favorite Onion headline: Hundreds of Musicians Removed From Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for Drug Use.
"Now when you hear Pink Floyd, you'll only think of the drug abuse and that's just sad."
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Gives new meaning to "performance-enhancing."
Vonnie: sure! All of Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot is overwhelmingly great.
Yay! Thanks. Vivadixie-whachamacallit is the only Sparklehorse album I don't have -- I guess it's time to remedy this.
Megan, I'll send Jens Lekman, Doves and Billy Bragg to the BR, original flavour. As for Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs, I only have two or three tracks from the album, but I like'em. They are good-natured, affectionate covers -- nothing ground-breaking, but lovely on the ear.
How is this album? I saw it at the library but I thought it might be too treacly. I like both their voices though.
I have it-- Oddly, my favorite track is The Kids Are Alright. (This from an avowed Who fan, but for whatever reason, it works.)
The other tracks I like are Alone Again Or, Different Drum, and Run to Me (although my absolute favorite remake of that song is Raul Malo's. le sigh)
A steady diet of their voices is overwhelming, but for something lovely and as Vonnie said, easy on the ear, they're nice.
Susanna also participated in the Rainy Day project with various members of the LA Paisley Underground in the 80's.
So imagine Mazzy Star-like versions of things like the Velvets' "I'll Be Your Mirror" and Dylan's "I'll Keep It With Mine."
Kendra Smith (ex of Dream Syndicate, then with Mazzy Star predecessor, Opal) also sings on "Flying on the Ground Is Wrong" (early Neil Young with Buffalo Springfield) and "Holocaust" (Alex Chilton).
Really gorgeous stuff.
My Feelies tickets arrived in the mail!
secretly plots to kill Tom Scola and take his place... after all, we're both Toms....
It's performed by Gus & Finn. I don't know anything about them - I'd love to get an audio recording of this....
tommyrot -- I mp3ified this and sent it to buffistarawk.
a bit late but Saturday Night by Cold Chisel is some good Aussie rock n' roll.
Don't know if it's been posted but if it has, it's worth posting again: Metal Puppy ... this pup rawks!
