Artist Steve McLaughlin compiled all the Beatles albums and compressed them to 1 hour. The end result takes you on a trip thats far surpasses the hallucigenity of the gay strawberry fields. Even better, one person recompressed several tracks...
eta: The compression was 800%, timewise....

Awesome. The compression is of the type that doesn't have a shift in pitch. Listening to one of the uncompressed tracks was fascinating, as you can hear what was lost when the thing was originally compres
I'm going to see the Fiery Furnaces tonight in Madison with my sister. I totally forgot to look for their new album so I could hear it before the show. So I grabbed it from the iTunes store this morning and am listening to it now.
So far it's... what you might expect from a new Fiery Furnaces album.
That's what I gleaned from the Pitchfork review. I'll probably pick it up, but my expectations aren't that high.
Fiery Furnaces was fun. What's-her-face seemed angry - is that usual for her?
Drug Rug (the first opening band) was cool. They're from Cambridge. Anyone familiar with them? I was tempted to buy their CD, but I thought I'd check eMusic first. (Thought about asking them if eMusic had their stuff, but I thought that might be rude, as I bet they make less money on eMusic sales.)

Eleanor? I've never seen her much for engaging the audience, but I've never seen her look anything but impassive, either.

I hadn't heard of them, but I just checked out their mySpace tunes and they do sound cool. I sent them a message to send their CD to WMBR.
Neat video from the NY Times on twelve tone music and its origins: [link]
(Bonus: some nice Sonic Youth and New Pornographers footage on the same page!)
I enjoyed that video very much, Jon.
Since Hec is blocked from visiting b.org at work, I'm popping in to brag on him and how much his editor likes his book:
