I'm not sure what you mean, but if it's the error message you get on the download window (say 7 of 8 tracks will be fine but one will say "download could not be completed or something like that) I've had it happen. Just give it another try. They won't charge you for two, just the successful one. If it's something else entirely then I have no useful input.

I would love to do the mix thing, but my free time is so unpredictable. I think I'll just play along at home as a challenge to myself. I'm afraid my selections will be too acoustic; and worse, too pedestrian for Buffista taste.

I finally saw Cheryl Wheeler live for the first time Sunday night. Her performance is alternatively pee-your-pants hilarious and heartbreakingly beautiful. She's an awsome fingerpicker, yet never showboats. It all fits neatly into what she's doing musically with the song.

Kenny White had a set to open, then accompanied her. His original songs are the kind of SSWG stuff that, in less talented hands, can have me zoning out by the end of the first verse. But his songwriting was engaging from beginning to end. Interesting piano style too. His piano accompaniment for Cheryl was subtle and spot on, and their voices blended in a way that made my whole being hum.

Live music from fine, fine musicians. Makes life worth living.

The problem was not that I wasn't getting downloads. In fact, really not a problem at all, an error in my favor. I downloaded 56 songs before it told me I had none left, I only have 40 downloads. Error in my favor from what I can see. What I worry about is being charged later.

There are a lot of musicians who work for eMusic as well, including Craig Finn (at least as of the summer).

msbelle, when I've tried to download more than my limit for the month, it stops me and tells me I need to pay more before I can finish downloading. So if you didn't get a message like that, I'm guessing it just didn't register that you were taking extra tracks, and I doubt they'll charge you for it.

katefate! I've seen Cheryl Wheeler live a bunch of times, and she is incredible. One of the funniest performers I've ever seen, and then she'll start singing these soulful, poignant songs that have you in tears. I don't listen to her CDs all that often anymore, but I would still see her live any chance I got.

What's wrong with acoustic music?? Speaking just for myself, I'd love to hear your contributions to the mix. I hear you on the free time thing, but if you do get the chance, I hope you'll reconsider.

Theodosia, I don't have a copy anymore (unless an old compilation LP is gathering dust in a box somewhere...), but the Dixie Cups also recorded "Iko Iko" during the '60s.

I may have that version at home. Forgot to check last night.
