Well, quite a lot of fuss. If I didn't know better, I'd think we were dangerous.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Isn't Leo supposed to be a mere 22? 17-22 isn't a big squicky stretch for me.

Per Weapons of Class Destruction (which I just watched last night) the age difference was... twenty-six months? Something like that.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Which involves a whole 'nother level of hand-waviness. Veronica is a junior, which makes her around 17 y.o. It's highly improbable that a 19 y.o. can be a deputy sheriff.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Well, I just did a quick google search and a lot of places want a minimum age of 21, but there are some counties in CA that will take 18 and up.

That said, most law enforcement outfits aren't going to hire someone fresh out of highschool unless they're really impressive and mature.

If I only had a brain...

It's highly improbable that a 19 y.o. can be a deputy sheriff.

Especially since he's dropped a couple of comments about college, I think.

Also? Wanting to study her bedroom ceiling is SUCH an icky pickup line. Although she did call him on that.

Who, Me?

Veronica needing to be saved in the finale by her father didn't bother me too much because it flows naturally from prior events. One of Veronica's flaws is that she underestimates smart adults. She underestimates her dad and gets a face full of ink (one of my favorite moments on the show), underestimates Clarence Wiedman and loses ground on the case (and is lucky it's not worse. I'm not convinced he's a bad guy). She underestimates Aaron Echolls and nearly gets killed. I think that my main gender issue is that she never tangles and loses to a smart female adult. As long as the 'Veronica Mars, damsel in distress' remains a rare occurence, especially if she actually learns something from it, I'm ok with it.

I also don't mind Veronica's less-than-ethical behavior. There's no way she could see her actions as being more than slightly shady, and no way she could be convinced that the ends don't justify the means. Her best available role model is her father, and he invades people's privacy for a living. Given the way she nearly hero-worships him, it would be fairly unrealistic for her to have what we would consider a healthy ethical code.

OMG, Veronica Mars thread! I've been wanting this since about halfway through the season. LOVE.

I was watching an ep the other day (now that I have TiVo again, I've had it taping all the repeats) and so gushing over Logan, becuase he's just so broken. And was like "Why the hell does this make me gush, when it's fictional, when I know in real life it makes me run away screaming?"

For who's at the door? I personally want it to be Wallace or better yet, Weevil (proudly announcing to Veronica he's kicked the shit out of Logan....)

My problem is, I kinda loathe Duncan. He got a little better by the end of the season, but...I was sort of hoping he'd be the killer just so he wouldn't be on the show next season. I don't feel the chemistry between him and Veronica so it just doesn't work as a big triangle thing for me...But I'm hoping/expecting that Rob Thomas can make it work! After all, angsty bitter Logan is TEH HOT.

Veronica definitely has issues, but I love that it's quite clear that she does, and everyone KNOWS she does--the beginning of the season was a little simplistic, but shades of grey got mighty grey by the end...

I like Meg and Mac, and hope they get more time. And Weevil. And Wallace. And and and...

I guess I find it troublesome not only that she invades others privacy, but that she doesn't seem to have even a vague hint that anything is wrong with it

But I felt like as things went on through the season, she kinda got a little more that it wasn't as OK as she started out thinking. That her way wasn't always the right way. Etc. Etc. But I think it's being shown as a process, and she's learning.

And v. cool and "ooh, I agree!" comments from 'Suela on the fantasy/Chosen One/apocalypse vs reality/righteous girl/killer divide...

So, in conclusion: love this thread! Looking forward SO MUCH to second season. Scared SO MUCH that it will not live up to first one...

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

Veronica's utter lack of respect for anyone else's privacy was bugging the shit out of me. Enough people were enjoying the show that I gave it another shot, and I am very glad I did, but she herself is still on my don't like list.

and thus i learned that my ethics aren't quite as up to par as i thought they were. i honestly didn't have a problem with the things Veronica did to find the truth. the only time i was uncomfortable was when she was digging up all the dirty history on the 09ers parents. i don't think i personally would have gone to some of the lengths she did to get her info, but it didn't squick me.

I'm also mildly wigged that it was somehow okay for her to date Leo, in a way that I wasn't wigged by Buffy and her Really Really a Lot Older men.

seconded. especially with some of the comments he made.

Veronica's a high school junior and he's a Cop.

this. this is what bugged me.

I like Meg and Mac, and hope they get more time.

rumour has it that Tina Majorino has her own pilot. so we may not see her.

And now I'm gonna have to decide which of VM and LOST is the show I record, and which I ahem.

VM has me live for the simple fact that i'm still bitter of that
