Yeah, the karaoke was just clumsy and took me out of the story. It was very songfic in feel. "Look! We shall punctuate the angst with LYRICS! That our characters are listening to! So we know that they know just how Alanic it all is!"
Or, what DX and Bon said.
I think the Logan-Duncan fight in last week's show is just about the lamest one I've seen on TV.
How so? IIRC I liked how realistic it seemed. It's not like either of them know how to fight.
I think Logan probably does, actually, between his father abusing him, watching the bum fights, and his own scuffles.
It looked like it was staged very badly somehow. I will have to go back and pinpoint it more than that.
Okay, on slomo, at first they were just pushing each other, even after it would have been natural to start throwing punches. Logan finally throws a punch that should have connected to Duncan's face, but suddenly, and somewhat awkwardly, becomes an semi open handed swat to the mid torso.
Given at the end of last season Logan was able to take out Weevil with a kick, I would expect him at least to be a better fighter.
I'm with Perkins. I thought it was a faked fight -- like being faked by the characters. I was surprised to see any blood was drawn, anything bad enough to require bandaging.
It looked like slapstick to me, not angry athletic teenagers.
And now I bow to the expert and just go with "what ita said".
Fair enough. I wasn't paying a lot of attention to the fight, I just remember it being kind of amateurish.
I thought it was a nod to the lame Colin Firth/Hugh Grant fights from the Bridget Jones' Diary movies, given the Pride & Prejudice references.
Except, I don't think it was supposed to be funny. It was a really badly staged fight.
Looked like a totally bog standard crap fight betwen two people who don't know how to fight. Completely realistic as far as I was concerend.
