But very little in Season 1. He did the short little commentaries that were on the original VHS release (6 of the 12 episodes). As to the DVDs commentaries for season 1, I think he just did part of the pilot. (More in later years, but not much in Season 1.)

I think a lack of commentaries on episodes was the biggest criticism I heard about the early season DVD's of Buffy. There were some, but not enough. And Joss has talked publicly about how he hated doing them, but now the shoe's on the other foot.

rewatching 2x02. i just adore the interaction between Veronica and Sheriff Lamb. Kristen and Michael have great chemistry. i hope with the Sheriff elections this doesn't mean we won't be seeing more of him afterwards.
he's kind of like the mayor(from Buffy) in that he's a likeable villain. at least to me.
