I think my problem with the possibly new format is that Neptune was as much a character to me as any of the cast. So even the move to Hearst has been a little disappointing.

This is why I'd like to see her be an adult detective, rather than a gifted hobbyist. Keith could be Sheriff, and they could have a complicated relationship. Her situations could be much more adult, and the storylines could be so much more film noir in character.

You also have to go through the physical training at Quantico. I don't see the wee Veronica making it through.

The FBI idea makes me kind of ill. Veronica's a rule breaker. She does what she has to do to get the job done. That isn't the way law enforcement works.

There are plenty of shows about the FBI on the air already. Who needs another one? And honestly, as Cash said, Veronica fitting in at the FBI? I can't see it. I can't see her wanting to, for that matter.

I don't see how that would make the show any different, though. She gets paid now, sometimes, and even if she doesn't have a license, it certainly doesn't seem to matter.

I guess my feeling is, Veronica never showed any interest in solving crimes or detective work until Lily died and her mother disappeared. Yeah, she's gifted at it, but again, it was the personal connections to the mysteries that informed her characters, and the show, for me. That's already, mostly, gone. And Veronica is, again *to me*, becoming a lot less likable, for reasons I'm not sure I understand.

Some shows don't have a long-term premise, just as some novels wouldn't spawn a series. For me, what was best about this show and these characters has already been covered.

It's true, changing it to the FBI makes the show pretty much by definition not noir.

Might be uh, fun, to have VM takeoff of "To Live And Die in L.A."

I would be very behind a four year jump into the future, as a PI, as an FBI agent, whatever. I'd like to see what an adult Veronica, utilizing the agency she developed in herself when we first met her, would do with her life when she doesn't have to prove anything to anyone, when she doesn't live in the town that defined her, when she chooses to be an investigator, criminal or private, because it's what she wants to do with her life. I'm all for going.

Fact is, the show isn't well watched. If they want to keep it on the air, it's all about changin' the show format, and that's as much the show runners responsibility as the nets.

Personally, I don't watch VM as it's not my thang, but if it moved to the FBI I would check it oot again. Which would probably be the kiss of death.

I should have been clearer. Even if the FBI idea is Rob's, it wasn't where he originally intended the show to go (I assume). I get the feeling he's trying to save the show however he can, and that's sad, because it will end up a different show with a very different tone, if it changes that drastically.

Rob's been on about the FBI thing for a while. I think. I could well be wrong. It's an interview memory thing.

It's not always a bad thing - when you look at Angel season 1 compared to Angel season 5, for example, most of the elements which define s1 to s5 are different (location, tone, characters etc). Of course, I totally understand where you are coming from as it can go horridly wrong. For example, if they move it to the FBI I don't see how the existing characters fit in, but I can imagine the creators and network trying to shoe horn them in... which is challenging.

I've never had a sense that Rob's ever had a far-reaching vision of where the show would go. I don't mean that as a dis. It's just, it's never felt like "Buffy," where Joss was always saying he had the last shot in his head since the first day.
