Veronica Mars: Annoy, Tiny Blonde One. Annoy Like the Wind.
[NAFDA] Spoiler Policy: Seasons 1-3 and the movie are fair game. Spoiler font two weeks for new content presented all at once (e.g. Season 4 on Hulu is fair game as of Aug. 9, 2019). New content presented as weekly episodes may be discussed with no restrictions as it is released.
Except that she basically blew him off at the end of last week's ep, so why was she crying?
I think last week she may have been acting out of little residual pissiness about him hiring the bodyguard. Veronica definitely has a tendency to go incommunicado when she's hurt or angry -- look at her (in that same episode? the one before?) when she was angry with both Logan and Keith. She actually took herself out of Keith's presence by moving into the dorm, and hadn't been answering Logan's calls. For someone who relies so often on instant communication -- the cell phone, the text message -- when she's in trouble, and knows how to track anyone down when she wants to talk to them, it's interesting to me that one of her defenses is to shut herself away from people when she's upset, rather than lashing out.
In tonight's episode I think she realized that she really hurt Logan, and that their issues have as much to do with her as with him. I think she was genuinely taken by surprise that he broke up with her, because I think she really believes, most of the time, that she's in control. Either that or she wants to believe it.
Dude, I could not love Logan more than I do right now.
I'm a simple girl, and vengeance makes me *very* happy.
this. so very much this. that scene alone was enough to make me giddy about this episode.
knew the shoes from the trailer/cold open belonged to Moe. so was not surprised when he was in on the rapes. i was telling V to stop drinking the tea immediately and then screaming at her to CALL LOGAN OMG!!! when the drug started taking effect.
also? Mercer was one creepy bastard and if V didn't love unicorns before now, she'd have a good reason.
last, but not least. i love Mac. her shirt at the party was classic!!
I have to say, that when Veronica was meeting with her gang and giving out tasks I was surprised that she trusted Moe. (Possibly because so many of us have suspected him.)
Loved the end -- one mystery nicely dovetailing into the other. Although the lack of promos has me worried that we're onto the winter hiatus.
Um, are we?
we are, indeed. january will be the next time we see some action.
Veronica's crying in the shower bit was very in character, too.
She's totally Buffy, y'all.
Except that she basically blew him off at the end of last week's ep, so why was she crying?
She keeps people at a distance -- not because she doesn't care about them, but because her past has laid the pattern where the people she cares about the most, the people she's closest to, are the ones who have hurt her beyond repair.
She pushes away the people she cares about the most. That's what she'd been doing with Logan, but it doesn't mean that she didn't care about him. Quite the opposite, I'd say.
I'll say it again -- she's Buffy.
Yeah, she pushes the people she cares about away AND I also think her response to being in danger is to prove that she doesn't need help. So, it was a doubly doomed relationship.
Thoughts at length tomorrow, but basically ... I liked it. It was all set up well, and it all followed.
That being said ... the moment Logan took a baseball bat to the cop car, that was my show. That's the borderline psychopath we know and love ... just crazy enough to do something stupid so he can inflict a world of hurt on the people who hurt his girl. Gotta love that.
Also, small thing I loved: Glad it was Parker who came to Veronica's rescue.

Oh, not a small thing at all. I was fiercely glad that Veronica put up such a good fight and did most of the saving herself, and that when the aid came to her way, it came from Parker rather than any of the men in her life.
I didn't love it, but I liked it. I wasn't expecting to, as I've been so unhappy with this season so far, but that did a reasonably satisfying job wrapping up the mystery and setting up the new one. That Mercer was involved wasn't much of a surprise, but I did like the way they used the continuity to the Prisoner/Guard experiment episode as a plot twist. That was cool.
The V/L breakup scene was nicely done, and let me join in the chorus of approval that the Logan we knew and loved so well from the earlier seasons is back. Yay!

Amen. I somewhat shamefully bounced up and down when he was smashing the cop car and I realized what he was doing...and when he walked into that cell, I went "woobie!!!!"
And I also agree that Parker coming to Veronica's rescue was awesome. And glad Veronica was at least marginally helpful to herself with teh stabbing and the hammer and stuff. Yay.
Does GHB really work that fast?
I think the next mystery sounds neat (though sad that the cute moment of Weevil and Dean will be the only one!), but oh, the feminists. Oh. Oh. I just...argh.
Probably longer ago than last year because Moe is an RA -- I mean, are there sophomore RAs?
Yep. Also TAs, sometimes. I once had a TA who was an sophomore undergraduate. The professor really hated him, even though he was just as competent as the other TAs for the class.
