So, how was your summer? Mine was fun. Saw some fish. Went mad with hunger. Hallucinated a whole bunch.

Art Crawl!!!

From Kristin at E:

Meanwhile, over on the WB, sources tell me that Veronica Mars has received an order for three more episodes--not the full season it deserves, but this diehard fan will take it! And apparently, One Tree Hill also has received an order for more episodes (either one or three more depending on who you ask). Not a huge show of faith, but at least it's something.

Can you believe she still calls it the WB?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I think she's conflating two pieces of old news into one piece of possibly inaccurate news.

They've ordered three scripts, and directors have been hired for those scripts. That does suggest that perhaps three actual episodes have been ordered, but I don't know whether it's standard practice to string the show along like that rather than just giving them the back nine or not.

(Tina Turner also covered it, probably before you were born).

This makes me feel a little sick. I kind of feel like if they were going to pick it up, they would have. Whether Kristin is right or it's just a conflation of what you've explained, it sounds very much like what's happened to other shows that weren't picked up.

Damn.

I thought that, when Veronica saw Dr. Landry at the hotel, we were supposed to think that he set up the whole thing just to make sure that she was really as good as he thought she was. Then the scene with Tim came.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Damn.

They've picked up 7th Heaven for fuck's sake! I refuse to live in a world where this could happen.

I think Freddy Quimby should walk out of here a free hotel

I'm reluctant to make my second post in a thread for a show I really enjoy a negative one but I can't help wondering if:

a) Veronica is going to fall on a sword and admit to framing an undeserving person for theft or at least try and restore to the bell-hop his job and ask from him forgiveness.

b) Veronica is going to realize that her behaviour, born from presumptuousness and spite, is structurally identical to the behaviour of several people she has vented her righteous fury at (and whose downfall the audience was encouraged to enjoy).

c) The writers are going to address, in a real, substantial way, the effects Veronica malicious, revenge oddyseys are having on people's lives.

I don't know whether I should hold out hope that any of these things are going to come to pass. On the 'have some hope' side, there has been several lines and scenes this season (Piz and Veronica's ' Why do you do this?' conversation in the first episode, Logan's 'You just like to judge people' line from the third episode and the Parker/ Veronica scene late in episode 4) that lead one to think these things may be on the writers' minds. However, on the 'not much hope' side, we've had Veronica being told that her vengeful spirit is hurting others for two seasons now and no story being told where she's made to know that her vengeful spirit is hurting people.

What is even happening?

IAmNotReallyASpring, first up, I have to say your board name delights me, whenever I see it. The phrase itself, the caps...it just makes me smile.

As for your question, I think it's a good one. Veronica's not a hero, and it's not a hero-story, so I'm not sure how much of a comeuppance she'll get. She seems to get bitten on the ass in other ways, although sometimes she gets bitten because of the assumptions she makes.

In general though, she does bad things, in service of what she thinks is a good cause (which often is, but not always). She seems inclined to be an ends-justify-the-means thinker. I think she is like this, in part, because in her world the system is so broken. She does leave collateral damage in her wake.

Aside from the last vengeance-quest (filling the bellhop's trunk with the hotel supplies), and one of the earliest (where she commissioned the bong and planted it in Logan's locker), when else has she been vengeful? I'm not denying she has been. Those are the only two incidents that I can think of, right now.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

SO MUCH FUN!

Just watched "Drinking The Kool-Aid," "An Echolls Family Christmas," and the one after that with the E string rapist/Madison and Mac/ Lamb and Keith- FIGHTING CRIME! Mumble mouthed Leo! I prepared myself this time and actually got all of his lines, which were hilarious! "I'm just trying to cover all fantasy bases."

Primo, primo, most excellent, awesome stuff. The actual style of the filming seems to have changed a LOT. Like, I noticed that there were some cool jump cuts (which I thought suited what was going on very well) and other visual stuff. And of course, the blue tinted water colored memory flashback style.

Oh, YEAH.
