AmyLiz, my mind never even went where your mind went. You writer types are scary. I thought "Aaron's Kidz" was a pretty clear signal that there are other Echolls spawn out there, from the get-go. Of course although I'm not outright spoiling, I don't avoid the sort of casting news you'll see in TV Guide, and knew the GG!Logan was being brought on as a possible illegitimate brother, so maybe that's why.
I can't imagine Vanity Fair risking their cred with actual celebrities and the reading public, by tricking the child of dead, psychotic celebrity, like that. Logan isn't even a star. It was a poor writing choice to use their name in this. They should have made up a clearly Tabloidish name.
That said, I thought the episode was excellent.
The Keith plot was splendidly done. EC and LSG still have nice chemistry. I love that except for Veronica noticing his cologne, Keith's interest in Harmony was conveyed mostly by EC's face. He's such a good guy, and they showed us that, instead of telling.
I don't think Dick is/the frat boys are coming off better than the feminists. They had the bruised hands from their grope room. They're running these parties from which girls leave so drunk (and drugged), that they don't even know who they've been with or where they are. They don't seem to be tempering their parties, even though they know their fellow students are being raped. All they were concerned about was clearing themselves.
Any sort of extreme devotion, be it in service of a religion, relationship, or cause can (and often does) have the capacity to cloud judgment. I would have found it unbelievable if Parker and the BBTN women weren't a little pissed at Veronica for clearing the frat. I think they truly believe the frat is directly involved in the rapes, and can understand their anger that Veronica is clearing them. Truthfully, I don't want any cause to be above reproach in Neptune. If the feminists were being put forth as perfect, then I'd have a problem, because in Neptune, everyone is a little corrupt.
However this serial rape mystery eventually shakes out, I'm pretty sure there will be honorable feminists, and think it's possible there'll be some dishonorable ones; I think there will be some dishonorable frat boys, and think it's possible there will be some honorable ones. There's been so much focus on that frat, since last season when this mystery was teased, that it seems to me we'll see frat culture partially responsible for the rapes, at the very least by contributing to the conditions that are leaving women more vulnerable to rape than under ordinary circumstances. I thought that going in, and Veronica referencing Duke last night to Charleston Chu (HA!) made me think it even more.
As jaded as Logan seems to be, he's got the survival instincts of a cheeseburger. Dude. DOUBT a total stranger once in a while, m'kay?
I love this about him. I remember saying early on he makes Spike look like a strategic thinker. I especially loved it last night, because he's so lonely, and so wants to be loved, yet he's so impulsive, he ends up screwing himself out of it. I think that's where the real foreshadowing was, last night.
I see where he was coming from. He wants some normal family, and that was being handed to him on a platter. Note he was quick to jump to the conclusion that the actual brother sold him out.
I've been thinking lately that the only reason people can lie to us is that we want them to. Once the desire to believe is gone, people are pretty shitty liars.
I knew Not!Logan was a journalist the second he and Logan were out in the ocean.Yes, on both counts.
Yes, as a group they are terrible and the ONE person that Veronica has spent any time with turns out to be an unethical headlines at any cost creep.
Why is Nish unethical? If any newspaper sent an undercover reporter to uncover what they thought was Big Story A, and instead happened upon Big Story B, would the newspaper not cover it? I felt badly for the (continued...)
