Oh, smacked in the noggin with a 2x4 wrapped in velvet. Yeah, that's what it felt like.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

See, there were conflicting reports at the time of the renewal as to whether it was 13 with an option to go to 22 or 22 with the option to cut to 13. And I tried to ask Rob to clarify, but he wouldn't give me a straight answer, insisting that it didn't matter to anyone but the accountants. The bottom line being, as he said, that they can be cancelled whenever. All the 13 thing means is that they're only budgeted for 13 right now, I think.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

By extension, I figured it meant that 13 would get filmed. So if they were cancelled prior to all 13 airing, they would at least have 13 eps for the theoretical DVD set.

All it really means is that people will be paid for 13 episodes. They don't have to actually film them. Hollywood is very strange.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I like Tim's approach to the thirteen. Sure, it's arbitrary, but if we get DVDs including unaired, that's how far it'll go. And if it is picked up, it's not a bad rhythm.

With Wonderfalls and The Inside, though, he had the luxury of having all 13 filmed before they aired, right? It's easier to plan for 13 if you know you at least get to film them.

How so? I mean, he's planning for some number without knowing if he's going to film them. I don't see why 13 is any different.

Which he are you referring to? I was saying that Tim could plan for 13 episodes if he knew they were going to get filmed, regardless of whether they would air or not. Rob, on the other hand, doesn't know how many he's going to be allowed to film, so he is just working under the assumption that he'll be doing a full season rather than planning for 13.

The he I meant was Rob. He could just as easily pace his full season so it has a natural mini-wrap at episode thirteen as any other way.

I have no idea what information Tim had when he was working Wonderfalls or The Inside.

What is even happening?

I wish he'd do this: 7-6-9.
