I've been out of the abbey two days, I've beaten a lawman senseless, I've fallen in with criminals. I watched the captain shoot the man I swore to protect. And I'm not even sure if I think he was wrong.

Because books.

Woody was the (public) suspect for the bus crash. Meg died because of the bus crash. That's why Mr. Manning offered the bounty for capturing Woody.

Oh! Oops. Duh. Thanks, Cindy.

Just finished watching, and reading through the thread. kajfjdfgjksgdf.

Yeah, that.

I felt sick when I thought Keith was dead. But I was full of admiration for the sheer balls of it. Didn't mind a bit when they took it back, mind you.

I felt like the Jackie thing was a bit shoe-horned in, and I didn't like the way that pretty much every one of the bad guys got away with it. Aaron, Woody, Beav.

Good lord though, what an episode. Will have to rewatch later when Ive absorbed it a bit more.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Aren't they all dead, though? That's a comeuppance in my book.

Death isn't comeuppance to me. It's revenge, yeah, but it's not justice. Being tried and convicted, especially Beav, so that the families of the kids on the bus could know who to blame, and see them being punished, that'd be comeuppance.

there's that, but I don't see it quite as getting away with it.

The point that justice isn't always served in the courts was pretty prominant over the last 2 episodes. Neptune is fucked up, yo. You better believe Weevil will go to jail though.

Certainly there are differences between how and why all three died, but I don't think they "got away with" anything. Two were executed (one of whom would never have gotten legal comeuppance due to double jeopardy) and one ended his own life.

Also: Fitzpatricks- total fucking red herring or what?

Jars - May 10, 2006 4:01:19 am PDT #3058 of 5730

Yeah, and why in the hell was Kendall involved with them?

Did no one else think Kendall just had a big ol case o' money?

Amy - May 10, 2006 4:02:57 am PDT #3059 of 5730
Because books.

Or you can see the Fitzpatricks are just more of the same -- they're involved in all kinds of nasty stuff and won't (or haven't yet) been brought to justice.

I agree, Nora -- for one thing, Beaver chose his death. That's not justice, just because he's dead. It's another way out, for him, another way to deny what he did and the responsibility for it.

I assume there was money, but also something else. We saw in that very same episode Keith putting money aside in favor of being there for Veronica (to Vinnie: we don't move until after my daughter graduates)

So whatever is connected to the money I think had to be personal and piqued his interest in a non financial way in order to stand Veronica up.

There is no joy in Whoville. There is no justice in Neptune.

edit: or is that Mudville? I'm very sleepy.

"The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be."

My money is on the severed head of Lianne Mars.

Or evidence of a crashed UFO on the Kane estate, which would take the show in a whole other direction. VM: "That's great Dad! As you know, you've been searching for evidence of extra-terrestrial activity your entire life, although you rarely mention it!" KM: "I suppose I should tell you now about our exile from the planet Zeist."
