Momma Kent, right? It didn't ping me; I just thought it was stupid.

Oh, it's thoroughly stupid.
And, were it not so dang triggery for my own issues, I'd totally have rolled my eyes. Heck, I did roll my eyes. I also just avoided watching.
Ah, I never watched The Inside because it didn't sound like my thing. It appears I made a good choice there.
I am so tempted to seek spoilers on VM, but since I have managed to avoid them this long I will try and stay pure.
as noir in general does not, I suppose.
Depends on the noir. Lots of classic noirs end with the bad guy getting his (or hers), albeit in a bleak, uncompromising way. S1 of VM actually more or less ended like that, so I'm definitely curious about what's going down next week.
I couldn't take The Inside too long, either. Had the episode in which Tim kills Scott ever aired, I wouldn't have watched it, because it was the "feel good dead baby episode of the year." Couldn't do it.
Several of my LJ buddies who love the show have expressed similar discontent--not with the quality of the show, but with the grimness. One of them even went out as far as to say that she wouldn't watch S3 if the culprit turned out to be Beaver, because that'd be just too horrific for her.
I really think it is Beaver. I've just finished my spec. It's pretty comprehensive, rationalizing clues that we've been given, and sorting out the ratred herrings, and analyzing everything from chlamydia to Terrence Cook.
I think I've touched on everything except who put Veronica's name on Curly's hand, because about that? I have no clue.
I do mention the title of the episode, and discuss the TV-broadcast promos for the episode, so fair warning to those who are going to check it out.
Journal is here: [link] and the entry is the one up top, right now. I'm linking to the main journal page, so people get a second chance to look at the warnings, before they click on the cut tag.

I didn't see anything at all from the promo in your post. Did I miss something? I sent someone over, telling her it was safe.
Also, I don't know if you guys heard, but we're hiring a plane.
Oh, P-C. Now I don't know. I wrote the disclaimer before I composed the post, and essentially repeated it, here. I don't think I did mention the promo, after all (by promo though, I mean what aired on UPN on the TV. I don't watch the cold open, or whatever that is).
who put Veronica's name on Curly's hand,
In the promo, it looked to me like Curly himself wrote it.
Hee! I rewatched it last night, and thought the opposite. I do think Curly writing it himself, is the most likely explanation for it being on there, but something about Veronica asking Weevil if noticed whether or not her name was on Curly's hand when Weevil beat curly up, felt to me like it was supposed to be drawing it to our attention.
Hey, guys, you should listen to me on the latest Neptune Pirate Radio.
