I'd rather have whoever the killer is, not care about the "innocent" among the victims. That will be hard to swallow if it is Cassidy, but not as hard to swallow as a perfect combination of victims on a bus.
See, I don't think they all have to be, but having the additional two could make the rest of them seem like acceptable losses.
I guess I'm wondering if the STD was simply there for shock value -- a way to further humiliate Veronica, who has had to suffer through so much already (Lily's death, her mom's disappearance, her dad's ousting from the position of sheriff, the date rape). If so, it's kind of ... stupid.
I had assumed it was so help unravel the molestation story -- if Veronica only had sex with Duncan and he only had sex with her and Meg, then Meg gave the STD to Duncan who gave it to Veronica. Which raises the issue of who Meg got the STD from -- which would be Dear Old Dad, Mayor Woody, Creepy Dad that Meg babysat for, etc.
Oh, I gotcha. I do think Beaver's intended victims could be Cervando, Betina, Marcos and Pete.
I do have a hard time thinking he'd see Veronica as an acceptable loss. I know they're not best friends, but he seems to like her. It makes me so sad.

That seems most likely, Narrator.
Also, Amy. I don't think it's for shock value only because it was planted so early on in the season--back in NPBiaC.

I'm also not sure he'd be so seemingly carefree around her in the aftermath. As I said, I think I'd have a hard time buying Cass Casablancas, stone sociopath and master criminal.

Well, I'm thinking Cassidy Casablancas, broken genius, already scorned by the men in his life who think they's so macho and he's such a waste, scared to death this secret (regarding which he has probably made to feel complicit because that's what child abusers do) was going to out, and ruin his life which already sucks in so many ways. But I get your point.

Um, I have to look up what episode that is, because I'm a dork.
Also, really? I thought the first mention of an STD was when Veronica found out she had it.
That's what I thought too.
You're not a dork, Amy, I am pretty much completely unable to keep track of episodes that are abbreviated by long strings of letters. And I also thought the first mention of Veronica getting an STD was last week when the doctor told her.

Sorry.
Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner --
it's the episode where Duncan and Veronica investigate which kid Meg babysat, that was being abused.
In Mrs. Hauser's health class, they are studying STDs. Veronica ends up partnering with Gia. Gia thinks it's a flower. Mrs. Hauser sets her straight. And Gia says something like she's sure it's a flower and that they "have it growing on a trellis at their beach house," so I think it's really likely that was a clue wrapped in a joke, and Woody is the original source.
