I'm having a moment of cognitive dissonance
Cindy, right there with ya. In fact, my son and I have an ongoing "hey, it's Cliff no it's Gordy" thing going on.
Maybe Bev was blackmailing Woody, and this was Woody's show of "force" to keep Bev quiet? Sorta, "I can do this to you at any minute" sort of thing?
Oh, and one last thing. At the end of the ep, as the screen shows Rob Thomas' name, there were the sounds of children laughing. That was creepy.
Who is Peter Ferrer?
Wasn't that the name of the kid who died in the bus crash who posted in the gay student's chatroom (under the name of MIZZ P) about the "outings of all outings" in Neptune? If so, then perhaps the upcoming outing was about Woody.
If Woody killed to stay in the closet, then I hope that he did not molest Beaver. It's not that gays can't be pedophiles, but it's really playing into a bad stereotype. (Vast majority of pedophiles are not homosexual, but there are quite a few on the far-right who refuse to recognize that and continually link being gay with pedophilia.)

Oh, okay. I don't manage to retain stuff like that. I do remember the MIZZ P, though.

Maybe it's an outing of him as a pedophile, rather than as a homosexual?
Woody is married with children. There are plenty of pedophiles (maybe most) who have het adult sex lives but prey on victims regardless of the sex of the victim, or, who prey on victims the same sex as they.
Or? Maybe he falls into a gray area. There are pedophiles who prey on post-pubescents. They're sometimes called ephebophiles, to differentiate. It's not the same issue as pedophilia. I mean, Logan (who Woody hit on last night) is no child. I don't know if he's 17 or 18, but he's a sexually mature person, with a body much more adult-like than child-like. It's not a pathology to find him sexually attractive. It's inappropriate if he's a minor and since Woody is both an authority figure, and a married parent of a child the same age, and many people would find it immoral, but it's not gross, in the same way pedophilia of the pre-pubescent is.
Okay, I just watched the episode and I frickin' loved it. My favorite episode since, probably, season one.
I... don't really have more thoughts than that. I wish I had enough time and brainpower to invest in actual contemplation of it, like I did last year, but I just don't.
So here is a random list of things I liked:
1) Dialogue. Sizzled. I mean, it usually does, but it seemed especially hot this ep. Loved the shocker thing, Logan with Gia at the dance, and the whole Veronica/Mac discussion about boys and their silliness.
2) Big mystery! Finally! Well, one of them anyway.
3) Woody soooooo creepy.
4) Hello, ironic justice as Logan pushes the plunger to kill Thumper, who looks to be the boy who actually killed Felix. Thus making Logan an unintentional murderer of a PCHer for reals, for an extra layer of irony. Plus, that last scene, all the way through the laughing children, was super-evocative.
5) Poor Mac! Woes! She must clearly run into the arms of the nearest small blond (totally bicurious) detective girl for comfort!
6) Also, it was good.
I need sleep. But I am happy with the show again, and, for the first time in many episodes, eagerly anticipate the next ep.
cold open's up. may i be the first to say, WTF?!?!
First in a long line of many, I think. So confused now.
Aw man, poor Mac.
I support D Griswold's solution the her pain.

UTTAD, behave yourself, man.
Ask Ausiello:
UPN just sent out a press release about last night’s Veronica Mars ratings. Here’s an excerpt: “VERONICA MARS SCORED ITS BEST PERFORMANCE IN FOUR MONTHS (SINCE 12/7/05) IN VIEWERS (3.0mil), ADULTS 18-34 (1.5/4), WOMEN 18-34 (2.1/5) AND WOMEN 18-49 (1.6/4).” In related news, three posts today and counting. I’m outta control!!
And on the netlets, new episodes of "America's Next Top Model" (households: 3.3/6, #14; adults 18-49: 2.4, #T11) and "Veronica Mars" (households: 1.9/3, #16; adults 18-49: 1.2, #16) on UPN (households: 2.6/4, #5; adults 18-49: 1.8, #5) easily topped fresh installments of "One Tree Hill" (households: 2.0/3, #15; adults 18-49: 1.3, #15) and "The Bedford Diaries" (households: 1.3/2, #17; adults 18-49: 0.8, #17) on The WB (households: 1.6/2, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #6).
HELL YES!! best numbers yet, i believe.
