Fred: It's the pictures in my mind that are getting me. It's like being stuck in a really bad movie with those Clockwork Orange clampy things on my eyeballs. Wesley: Why imagine? Reality's disturbing enough.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Here's a fantastic essay on Veronica's, Duncan's, and...hell, nearly everyone's characterizations this season as facets of a return to normalcy.

What is even happening?

If your UPN station is Boston's UPN WSBK-TV 38...

VM will not be airing this Wednesday night because we deserve to be punished of college basketball. As of now and per my TiVo, VM is slated to air Saturday at 10:00pm, in its usual re-run slot.

The evil is this way?

Aw, bummer, Topic!Cindy. There needs to be timely VM in the Boston Area. It's not like you folks have the Super Bowl to distract you. (Us Chicagoans neither, darnit.)

What is even happening?

Ben was watching Sports Desk this morning before church. They simulated a play-off game between the Pats and the Steelers, and the Pats would have won, 15-7. He took it hard. Football losses don't sting me the way baseball losses do.

There does need to be timely VM for me, though. I'm spoiled for this upcoming one. I haven't planned on spoiling for VM, but white wings and newfan went to that event in Austin. They saw the next episode, and I couldn't resist the spoiler font. I was feeling guilty, but now I mostly feel like I deserved to spoil. Stupid college basketball.

I was thinking of you the other day. Ben and I were talking about baseball. This fall, he met one of Scott's great uncles, who played for the Cubbies yonks ago, and was a scout for a good long time, too. We never told him though about the cousin (not a first cousin) who played for the White Sox in the 90s.

Our wings are not tired.

VM is showing in a timely fashion in Delray Beach. Pop on down and watch with me. We don't delay important stuff for stinky sports.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

At least that is copacetic with my desire to record Lost and Bones this week. Curses to whoever decreed that all three should be on at the same time!

I'll be right there, Laura.

I decided to let Bones go. It's going to be one of those shows I catch if I'm around and nothing else is on. Scott and I will not be home on Wednesdays, and for the last month, TiVo has been having trouble changing our cable channels correctly. Just catching one show is going to be stressful, never mind three.

We use the serial cable hook up between TiVo and cable, not the IR thingie to change channels. I think our cable box is just going, because not all of the functions seem to work manually, either. Every time we've called cable though, they make us test this, that or the other thing, reboot the box, and then they say they're going to send a "stronger signal" but it can take up to an hour to work, and blah blah blah. I've never actually gotten to the point where I can say, "Yeah, did all that, now send out a guy with a new box."

I was hoping that if the Bears couldn't win, the Pats would. Chicago is actually a football town too, although I do think the generation-to-generation fandom is more apparent among baseball fans.

That's so cool for Ben to have relatives like that.

What is even happening?

I've never met the cousin. I do know the great uncle, though. I don't know who was more enthralled, him or Benjamin, when they sat and talked baseball at my in-laws' anniversary party. At one point, I started to say something, and the uncle (very cutely) said, "Excuse me, but the boy and I are talking baseball."
