I remember liking Turlough because I thought it was cool to have a companion with a hidden agenda. Especially since I didn't like Peter Davidson much.
In self-involved news, I just turned in what I think was my 160th episode recap. Which is either a neat accomplishment or a sad statement about the state of my life. Maybe both. Now I get to spend a while watching TV just for myself. And possibly sleeping. Bliss.
Yay! For the sleep, at least.
How many shows are you recapping at the moment?

I like Peter Davison more than I liked the 5th Doctor (I was an All Creatures Great and Small fan). Turlough's hidden agenda could've been ok if played better. It became thoroughly incoherent in
Enlightenment.
I have completed my absentee ballot for next week's primary. For now, I HAVE THE POWER OF GREYSKULL^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^HDEMOCRACY!!! AND I LORD IT OVER THE OTHER SEATTLE AND KING COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT 4 PEOPLE!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Sorry, I get this way with voting absentee.
dw -- Heh. I think you mean, "MY POWERS ARE BEYOND YOUR UNDERSTANDING!"
Sorry, I just love Jake Johannsen.

Er. Well, I was recapping one. Once this recap goes up I will officially be taking a much-needed break. My brain's all melted.

Yeah, that's probably what I really mean. He was fine in the role, but the character was too much of a goody, so Turlough seemed more sympathetic because he was all conflicty.

It's interesting, the 5th Doctor was definitely a goody-goody, but rewatching I notice just how irritable and peevish he is most of the time. I usually just put it down to having to deal with Adric and/or Tegan, while the other Doctors got useful companions like Jamie or Romana. (Of course, the 6th Doctor got Peri and Mel, and still looked bad by comparison.)
The Sixth Doctor combined the temperament of a high-strung rock star, the arrogant entitlement of a crooked politician, and the fashion sense of the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Really, he never had a chance...
Ah, see, I did like Colin Baker. Which I know is not a popular stance. But I liked him because he was such a dick, and I hadn't seen the Doctor that way before. And then around that time I saw some of the 1st Doctor, and he was kind of a jerk, too. At least, as I recall. It's been a long time. But I was interested in seeing how they were going to get him involved in the plot when he didn't want to be.
But I was in high school when I saw those, so I may have found it easier to relate to his put-upon attitude at the time.
Oh, I got my custom-made bag from Timbuk2 in the mail today. I like it much.
