I got stupid. The money was too good.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Now that bounces me back two levels (out of the folder and into the center) instead of one.

It never bounced you back any number of levels -- the message centre is level free.

What you seem to want is to be returned to the parent folder of the thread you're reading. Is that accurate?

Up with the sun

But if the idea of the TV folder was to neaten the home page, wouldn't a reading and writing folder help accomplish that goal?

This is how I feel as well, but I understand if it's a no-go.

If I only had a brain...

Well, we never had levels before -- now we do.

Precisely. Thanks.

No, we did. You might not have noticed them, but not only has the code been in place for months, there's been a folder for months too. Threads in the Closed folder showed up in the flat message centre just like ones at the root.

Some sort of indication that a folder has unread messages/threads in it would be nice.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I'm not sure how much use that would be if you're not subscribed to all the threads in the folder.

I've been experimenting with that, Tom. I'm still not sure of the specific approach, and the potential hit to the speed of the page loads. Still playing.

It'd be of some use (why I'm still playing) -- I miss it at WX, for instance, although I don't care about every thread in the TV forum -- but I do know if there's been activity since the last time I looked, even if I'm not sure where.

The other thing I'm thinking of is the ability to subscribe to an entire folder (not to every thread in the folder -- to the entire folder, no matter what threads lie in it).

WX had a Mark as Read function, though, which meant you could clear the unread messages you don't care about from the totals. That made it more useful as an indicator.

True, but I never used Mark Read, and it was still useful for me.
