Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I prefer the triangles. The folders were too small to really be visually meaningful, and I think a left-pointing triangle is a pretty well-known "more stuff under here" marker by now.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

The triangles are good, plus there's more space between the folder names now.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What it tells me (and I think that's only as an experienced user) is that if I click, the list will expand in the same space and show me the contents.

Which won't happen here.

To an inexperienced user, I think they'd look like triangles.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

I'm with ita, they look like twirlies and don't twirl which is odd. Message Centre only works if you have the thread you want subscribed, though, Jon.

I was sure you were violently agin breadcrumbs, ita. I may be losing my mind.

Same here. I just clicked to see if they did, in fact, expand. (Like "twisties" in Lotus Notes). I like the look of the triangles better than the folders, though, FWIW. (That's what I was coming in here to say: "Ooo, pretty red things!"

To an inexperienced user, I think they'd look like triangles.

Which is less of a problem, I think. They draw the eye, so inexperienced users who hit the home page will focus on them, and if said user is looking to talk about film or TV (ie, Buffy), s/he'll probably click correctly.

Our wings are not tired.

Yay triangles! I likes them better than folders.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

If possible, the subthreads should be indented when you click on the widget. And the technical term would be "navigational trail," not "breadcrumb," Jim, since breadcrumbs are dynamically generated.

These will be dynamically generated, if I understand you correctly -- each page is generated by the same code, after all.

Which is less of a problem, I think.

But why not just have them be folder icons? Those draw the eye at least as much, plus may convey information.

Eh, I was fine with the folder icons too. I just thought the Buffista red was pretty.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Maybe we should make them red folders, or yellow folders with red triangles on them.
