I think our board developers should get together with Ello. They really need some usability help...

Do you have problems, concerns, or recommendations about the technical side of the Phoenix? Air them here. Compliments also welcome.
ita, I just forwarded an email from DreamHost that says we've exceeded our memory allocation?
Oh Christ. Can we pay for more without dinging the budget? There's not much extra there, other than offlining some closed threads...
Is that like a cumulative thing, or does it mean something unusual is happening? I can't imagine this has been a busy time. But also they said we don't need to do anything, so we can wait and see if it happens again. Since the current plan is so cheap, I've basically just been paying for it myself, so we have money in the bank if we need to upgrade.
Jesse, I will also send some money. I've meant to for ages and let it slip. Donations@buffistas.org?
I don't know. I mean, the bigger the database tables are (disk space, not memory), the more effort in processing. But it's not like I can change the code to resolve that that easily.
Let's just see when/if it happens again.
I know we're much cheaper now, but Jesse! Subsiding the board? Tsk, tsk.
I was thinking this morning that I should email Jesse about a small donation. So...
Donations@buffistas.org?
Yep!
Thanks!
Yeah, let us know if you need $$, I'm always willing to kick in--this place is important to me. ;)
Got this message from DreamHost:
Hey Jesse H,
Great news! PHP 5.5 is available!
We recommend updating through the DreamHost panel because running old versions of PHP leaves your website vulnerable to malicious attacks.
Why update to PHP 5.5?
PHP 5.2 has been End-Of-Lifed (EOL'ed) which means the product is no longer getting security updates from the developers, php.net.
PHP 5.3 has been EOL'ed;
PHP 5.4 will be EOL'ed this year;
PHP 5.5 is well tested, stable, and has been in production on sites around the world since June 2013.
You can update to PHP 5.5 using the instructions on our wiki.
Most of your sites should update just fine from PHP 5.2 to PHP 5.5. However, there are some cases where sites with custom scripts, or using out of date One-Click Installs can break.
If you are concerned your site will not be compatible with PHP 5.5, you have a few options.
Ensure that the latest version of your script is compatible with PHP 5.5 and update to that version. Consult with the author/developer of your script to see if your site may be affected.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact DreamHost Support.
Thank you!
Your Happy PHP Update Team
