So it sounds like all the localista lists (or at least 2 of them) could use a revamp.

Do you have problems, concerns, or recommendations about the technical side of the Phoenix? Air them here. Compliments also welcome.
It used to not do this. I'd go in once a week and clean it out, and everything was hunky dory. I'm not really sure what happened. I thought it was just me...
Of course I don't want you to have to contend with a lot of spam, Kat. I just meant that the reason it hasn't been used in a couple of years may be in part that not all of us even knew it existed. If we think it isn't likely to be used regardless, that's fine.
I'm sure not everyone knew it existed and many more people are on the list probably without realizing they are (for example, Aimee and MM are on the list as are Cass and Perkins. ND and Sean are both on the list also). So again, I'm not really sure how useful the list is at all given that it's been inactive since, I believe, before Perkins left LA.
VW, I'm sorry you too are dealing with the spam. But I am also relieved to know it's not just me.
Why are the lists getting spammed at all? Where have their email addresses been posted?
Can't the email addresses be changed periodically?
Can't the email addresses be changed periodically?
I think that would make for crazy too, for more people.
Moderators--look at Privacy optionsSender filters and scroll down to the bottom and pick "discard" for "Action to take for postings from non-members for which no explicit action is defined." and "no" for "Should messages from non-members, which are automatically discarded, be forwarded to the list moderator?"
Jon, it's here which is linked to from the links page, core Buffista site section, described thusly:

At one point the complete contents of one of the lists turned up in a google search. I believe that hole got plugged, but the address could have been harvested.
Yeah, here's the link to that discussion, looks like it was fixed at the time, but it could be the initial source of these issues.

That and all the email addresses (eta:list, not members) are one link away from the page I posted.
