You two carried me through that war. Now I need you to carry me just a little bit further. If you can.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Power outage at the ISP. We can take no credit, but by all means, keep being nice.

I added a user to the a mailing list, and everything seemed to be going just fine--I sent off an email to it and I also got back:

Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.7.17)

Wassup?

Scola, can you see anything that should make the list misbehave like that?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

You sure you spelled the name of the list correctly?

Absolutely, unless it's suddenly been attacked by case sensitivity. I can forward you the bounceback message if you'd like.

How did you add the name to the list? Through the web interface?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Through the web interface?

Yes. Should that be relevant? I mean, should it break the list for all subsequent comers?

I don't know what caused it. It turns out that along with stompies, the laistas, nyistas, and midwest lists were missing from the qmail aliases directory, even though Plesk insisted they existed. It's possible that the filesystem was corrupted after the crash.

In Plesk, I checked off the missing lists, and clicked the "On/Off" button twice. Once the lists were restarted, the mail alias files were restored.

Now that man? He's a hero.
