What is even happening?

I'm not feeling a need (or seeing the pros) to categorising everything.

I think it will be sloppy if we don't, and if we still have a huge list, and just separate out the few TV threads we have, it's not going to make anything that much easier to find on the main page, imo.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If you categorise everything, there's nothing interesting on the front page. I think that doesn't do us much good.

If you categorise for TV, you lose about 5 threads, and prevent new threads from popping up there (I think it's the most likely area for new threads to be created). You can add 4 by including movies, and 8 more by rolling in the written word.

Anything more strikes me as over-organising.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

The community threads would be on the front page, but I think I'd still skim past them and click on TV if I was looking for Buffy talk.

Me, too. Keeping the BTVS/Angel/Firefly threads in the Community folder out of sentimental feeling is not good organization. They're show(/movie) discussion threads, so not putting them in the same folder as the other show threads makes utterly no sense.

Because books.

I'm with Cindy and Steph here. But I, too, find a lot easier (and more fun) to cyber-organize than to do it anywhere else.

The front page is overwhelming to me. Especially since they change position all the time. Finding everything in the same place would make sense to me, since then the threads would only change position within their folders. (I think. I could be terribly wrong.)

I worry the organisation will leave you with one of those houses that's all white walls and open space and you're wondering if anyone lives here, and if so do they read or watch TV...

Metaphorically speaking.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I think we're only talking about two folders, one for stuff we watch and listen to, and one for stuff for stuff we read and write, with everything else staying where it is. That should neaten things up quite a bit.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

one for monkeys, and one for cats.

Okay -- let's clear up terminology -- if you're not talking about putting community threads into their own folder, don't say community folder.

I'm a simple literalist, and have gotten very confused.

Heh.

But so, put more on the front page, but organized. For reference, here's Liese's original breakdown: Liese S. "Buffistas Building a Better Board ++" Aug 19, 2005 8:24:57 am PDT. Where I didn't stick to Liese's breakdown, it was just a dumb user error, not a suggested change.

From here down, pretend you're looking at the front page.

----------------

Up top we'll have the logo and the random quote. All the links will remain on the left. All the righthand threads will remain as is. And otherwise you'll see this:

Your page requires extra coding, Cindy. Are you married to the idea of a front page which is the same as a deeper folder? Non-technically, why isn't Minearverse Media?

eta: Also, you have some tag stuff happening.
