OK, I did the above post, and then immediately hit "refresh" on the same page in another window. The refresh took much longer than previous refreshes - in fact it took almost exactly as long as the post to appear in the original window (where I did the post).

Amen to what everyone else said--and the thinking it was just me. It's not that slow compared ot some stuff, but compared to how lightning fast it usually is...

It may be a traffic issue (i.e. people trying to post or read a thread at the same time).
I haven't noticed any problems today.
edit: OK that post took a few seconds to go through, but the delays today are not nearly as long as they were last night.
Stupid me. I'm now having problems. I would guess it's MySQL, and a table or two may need repairing or optimising.
I'll have to picked some planned downtime to run checks on the tables and to repair or optimise them if need be.
