"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

yup, I've resigned myself to it. It's not that bad, and it's fun to read the old posts :)

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I assume someone ran a query to delete all the extra threads?

The only unusual thing about my thread creation was that I\'m going through a proxy server because my employer blocks b.org. However, I have been posting successfully with no problems (i.e. my posts haven\'t been repeated a bazillion times), so I don\'t see why my creating a new thread would be any different.

t edit I\'ve got to leave my \'puter for awhile, so I won\'t be able to answer any questions about this for a few hours.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, I nuked them. I have no idea what could make that happen--the query retry itself more than 100 times.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yeah, I nuked them. I have no idea what could make that happen--the query retry itself more than 100 times.

Does the webserver see Jon's post > 100 times? Or just the one, which then got run > 100 times on the database server?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'll grab the weblogs and have a look, but I can't right now.

I'm looking at the logfiles right now, and I see 203 posts.

I suppose i could try making another thread through the proxy server and see if it happens again?

But not now, since I'm no longer on my work computer.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I have no idea what could make that happen

If someone from the board had died recently, you know, someone who had possibly worked on the code at some point, I might suspect it was a ghost. But what are the odds of that happening?

What is even happening?

Heh. I came in here with that on my mind.

I asked some of this in b'crazy, but it was busy, so maybe it got missed.

Does Gus still have any admin abilities? If so, can they be taken away from his account? Are there any server passwords that need changing, or whatever?

Also, would you please consider resetting or disabling his Gus's log-in, so that posts can't be edited?

Finally, there's at least one more account registered, by Gus: RandyNLaura: [link] Backstory starts here: Gus "Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains" Apr 7, 2005 11:32:19 pm PDT, continues through here: Gus "Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains" Apr 18, 2005 5:36:05 pm PDT.
