You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I have no idea what could make that happen

If someone from the board had died recently, you know, someone who had possibly worked on the code at some point, I might suspect it was a ghost. But what are the odds of that happening?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It's a Polter-Gus!

What is even happening?

Heh. I came in here with that on my mind.

I asked some of this in b'crazy, but it was busy, so maybe it got missed.

Does Gus still have any admin abilities? If so, can they be taken away from his account? Are there any server passwords that need changing, or whatever?

Also, would you please consider resetting or disabling his Gus's log-in, so that posts can't be edited?

Finally, there's at least one more account registered, by Gus: RandyNLaura: [link] Backstory starts here: Gus "Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains" Apr 7, 2005 11:32:19 pm PDT, continues through here: Gus "Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains" Apr 18, 2005 5:36:05 pm PDT.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Gus never had admin abilities, so those don't need revoking. He also never had keys to the big box. His test domain where he was coding was shut down a while ago.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I deactivated Gus' account yesterday or the day before. If he's dead (or wants to be), then he won't need to post. If he's not dead, he could email the admins and ask to be reactivated.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Did I miss something? Do we know RandyNLaura is a sock puppet? I mean, in light of recent events it looks suspicious but....

The email address under which RandyNLaura registered is one of Gus'.

OK, that does make it look more suspicious. But they came over to his place to watch FF, so they would have had to of registered on Gus's computer, using an email address accessible from it. So it's possible that's all on the up and up.

Of course, realistically I highly doubt it. And they've never been back, right? And we have no contact info....

Too bad they're not real people we can contact. We could ask them if they've seen Gus recently.

Thanks ita, and Jon.

Sorry about that, tommyrot. Good point. I made my request sound more certain than I was. It looked to me that even if they were the real deal, they only posted that one night, and that Gus probably did the registering for them. I should have asked the Stompies to shut off the account, if it was registered to one of Gus's emails.
