Buffistas Building a Better Board ++
Do you have problems, concerns, or recommendations about the technical side of the Phoenix? Air them here. Compliments also welcome.
When I submitted this post: Topic!Cindy "Spike's Bitches 33: Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else" Nov 20, 2006 4:10:10 am PST, I got a fatal error message. When I went back to b.org, and to the thread, the post was there. Here's the text of the message:
There has been an error. It's of the type we call fatal. Please don't be scared. You're not the one that's going to die.
Okay, where the $$&#&(@#& are the developers?

At least on my browser, the "jump to the first post on this day" doesn't seem to work in Natter, because the last drop down box, for the day of the month, doesn't seem to contain any numbers.
Mine only shows a few numbers. November 14-21 in Natter, Nov 5-21 in Bitches, and a full range of options in Great Write and Buffistechnology. (Mozilla 1.5.0.8, XP Media)
eta, which makes sense since Bitches and Natter started on those dates, so all ok here apparently.
Natter has healed itself for me.
Another fatal error. I was trying to post in the Veronica Mars thread. I got a this page cannot be displayed error. I either refreshed or hit "back" (sorry, can't remember) and got this:

P.S. Earlier, the board logged me out, which never happens to me.
P.P.S. That's right, board, I'm telling on you.
Sorry for leaping in here unannounced but I have a theoretical question.
Another board I frequent is soon-to-be homeless, as in, the software they were using is no longer going to be free any more.
What is the Buffista policy on use of their board software by others? (Provided financial renumeration can be agreed of course). Is it something that's ever come up before? Would The Powers That Be even consider it?
This is actually a couple of pretty neat ex-TT communities (one frequented by Buffistas like myself, Angus, mark, Jim etc.) who would like to continue in some form, so I just thought I'd throw the question out here.
Right now the board code is like a slightly messy house. There are at least two outstanding (non-critical, but should still be addresses) bugs for which I can point to the code that needs to be fixed. I just haven't.
Also, all the admin pages are not spiffed up to the level of the pages you guys see. So there's that.
I'm just
way
behind on coding stuff. My brain is so not there. Hell, I recoded a large part of the board about a year ago, and haven't had the oomph to fix that one IE issue and roll it into production (although I've been running on that code the whole time. Just not using IE).
I just got a fatal error. I copied it to bring it over here and then lost it again. I was posting in Bitches at the time.
With Steve.
On the moon.
