Spike's Bitches 25 to Life

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Went to the mall that's ten minutes from my house to see if I could luck into an appropriate dress.

I left when I was nearer crying over body image issues than over the fact I was shopping for my father's funeral.

I found two dresses that would have been perfect--one a tailored dress so dark a sage that it was more of a muted forest green, the other an understated black with burgundy geometric print, both at massive end-of-season markdowns. And they fit every part of me but my stupid, oversized, flabby, post-maternal breasts. Ugh. I think my stupid breasts are going to force me into separates, much as it feels like I ought to wear a dress, because any dress that doesn't strain unattractively across my chest is going to hang like a potato sack on the rest of me.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

and I brandished the sanitary towels at them and announced loudly "My friend is bleeding from here" (pointing at ladyparts) "She needs these. Now."

I t heart Fay!

Juliana, I hardly recognize you in those pictures. Cute one of you and your grandfather.

Not a feminine product thing, but tonight I was in pain and out of advil [because I have been downing them like candy lately], and the minute I mentioned it Dave asked if he could go get me some. Of course he couldn't because all the stores around here suck and are closed by 10, but I still thought it was sweet. Also I just noticed the bookmark he is using is the ticket from our trip to Mystic Aquarium from ages ago, which I also thought was sweet. t /carrots

Get a boob fitting size, if you think it is something you'd wear again for non-funerals, and have it tailored down to fit the rest of you. Probably cheaper than trying to find separates and *still* having the top too large.

I'll definitely consider that, which pretty much leaves me with Nordy's or getting the dress one place and the alterations elsewhere, huh?

Except for my breasts I'm a 14 or a 16, usually a 16 for anything remotely fitted at the waist. Which would probably put me getting an 18 or a 20 to fit the ridiculously oversized girls. And may I just say I really hate being a size 16? It's the limbo size. I never know whether I should be looking in plus or regular sizes. I need to either buckle down and diet myself back down to a 12 or else just give up and put on another 10 or 20 lbs.

Anyway, tomorrow I have a meeting in Bellevue, so I might try the mall there, and failing that, head up to Alderwood Monday or Tuesday. The helpful Nordstrom's saleslady thought I might have better luck at the department stores there because they're bigger, and their Nordy's has a special occasions department.

Frankly, I'm finding that all sizes between 10 and 20 are limbo sizes. There's just a weird range of fits from 12-18 that I don't remember from back when I was an 8/10, even with my short torso and other fitting issues.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Ick. My cousin's SIL was in an accident that closed the Turnpike down yesterday. She slowed a bit to allow someone to merge, and the tractor trailer truck behind her drove right up on top of her. They couldn't get her out until the truck was removed. Turns out, he was driving under a suspended license and had two warrants out for his arrest at the time. She's not in good shape.

I feel awful. I've only met the SIL once, but my cousin's husband's family is the only "in-law" side I really know- warm, wonderful people who take you in right away and treat you like one of their own, even if you're the most distant (or non-existant) relation. Her parents were on an Alaskan cruise and are trying to make it back in time. It's just so sad. Makes me wanna punch stuff.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Thanks, Sail. My cousin called earlier to have me check in on the dog (it happened upstate and they've been at the hospital there). SIL is in a coma, and I guess it looks like they're just trying to keep her stable until her folks can get there.

They're just such nice people, and my heart aches for them. Makes punchy motions at trucker dude in jail.
