All right, no one's killing folk today, on account of our very tight schedule.

Spike's Bitches 25 to Life

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

WELL YOU'RE BUILT LIKE A CAR YA GOTTA HUBCAP DIAMOND STAR HALO YOU'RE BUILT LIKE A CAR OH YEAH

Yay! I love that song (and I love T-Rex in general).

Oh, I thought you had written that song as a joke.

It'd take me more than a few minutes to write something like that.

Jaguar used that song in a commercial, but I've loved it since I heard it on the first album I ever bought.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm going nowhere
Going nowhere fast
Drowning in my memory
Living in the past
Everything looked black till I found her
She's all I need and that´s what I
say I call her Red

She's my shelter from the storm
She's the place to rest my head
Late at night she keeps me warm
I call her Red

And also, while we're there ....

Move over baby (move over baby)
Gimme the keys (gimme the keys)
I’m gonna try 2 tame your little red love machine
(I’m gonna try 2 tame your little red love machine)

Little red corvette
Baby you’re much 2 fast

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It'd take me more than a few minutes to write something like that.

I don't know. You're pretty good.

Heh. Thanks.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Here in my car
I'm the safest of all
I can lock all my doors
It's the only way to live
In cars.

move out and draw fire

First Cake:

Reluctantly crouched at the starting line,
engines pumping and thumping in time.
the green light flashes, the flags go up.
churning and burning, they yearn for the cup.
they deftly maneuver and muscle for rank,
fuel burning fast on an empty tank.
reckless and wild, they pour through the turns.
their prowess is potent and secretly stern.
as they speed through the finish, the flags go down.
the fans get up and they get out of town.
the arena is empty except for one man,
still driving and striving as fast as he can.
the sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
and long ago somebody left with the cup.
but he's driving and striving and hugging the turns.
and thinking of someone for whom he still burns.

he's going the distance.
he's going for speed.
she's all alone
in her time of need.
because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
he's fighting and biting and riding on his horse,
he's going the distance.

no trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine,
he's haunted by something he cannot define.
bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse,
assail him, impale him with monster-truck force.
in his mind, he's still driving, still making the grade.
she's hoping in time that her memories will fade.
cause he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
he's fighting and biting and riding on his horse.
the sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
and long ago somebody left with the cup.
but he's striving and driving and hugging the turns.
and thinking of someone for whom he still burns.

cause he's going the distance.
he's going for speed.
she's all alone
in her time of need.
because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
he's fighting and biting and riding on his horse.
he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
he's fighting and biting and riding on his horse.
he's going the distance.
he's going for speed.
he's going the distance.

(Side note: First time I heard this song, I swore I'd seen the story in it animated a la Heavy Metal.)

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

{{askye}}, {{Raq}} Day-get-better~ma for you guys.

{{Bev}} So sorry about the tummy upset! If I was there I'd clean it up for you.

IOmeN, I wouldn't say my Thursday is going badly, I'd just say it's a mad beehive of work where I'm trying to shoehorn two different tasks into a third one so that we can get everything they want shipped today, shipped. We were short budget (today is the end of the month for us) so they pulled in a huge job for the Venetian, 26 racks and control modules (my department), 1200 dimming modules, hundreds of control stations for architectural lighting (also my department). So I'm testing control modules, repairing them at the same time and bagging up 10-button stations during testing lulls. Wish me coordination~ma, because that's what it all breaks down to.

What is even happening?

Born to Run is better than all those songs, but the references are strewn throughout the song, and I can't pick an acceptable number of lines to post. So just know I am right.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Um, in an attempt to distract myself from Natter, I went shoe shopping on Zappo's. There will be an LJ post to follow, but I had to share the absolute worst pair I could find with y'all:

Shoe that made me go "WTF, Mate?"

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Yeah, I like to spend $123.95 to look like Homeless McRagfoot whenever I can.
