What is even happening?

The book-taking reminds me of how I got into Christopher Pike. Fifth or sixth grade, there was a copy of Bury Me Deep sitting on the chalkboard; it had been lost and was not currently claimed. It looked really cool, and after a couple days of watching it just sit there, I, uh, took it home and read it. Then I brought it back, at which point the original owner realized it had been missing, and he let me keep it.

In first grade, they were painting our classroom, and we had to move to another classroom. We were supposed to take all our stuff with us. This book was left on the chalk rail of the chalkboard. Nobody claimed it. I adopted it. The original owner eventually said something when we moved back into the room, and her book wasn't there. So I told her, and brought it back to her. She then told on me. I then wrote a mean note, saying I hated her. She told on me for that, too.

They had my mother come down to the school, and worried her so, making her think there must be some problem in the home causing me to act up like that (this actually ended up being the only time I was ever in trouble in school, but that's neither here nor there). She was all upset that night, talking to my dad. She asked him, "What are we going to do?"

My father said, "Tell her not to put anything in writing."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I do find it hard to get to the library these days, with short hours and no parking and glayvin, but that mostly means I don't check anything out and buy stuff to read, instead.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Apropos of boredom, methinks I want to move to Canada. What are the Universities like over there?

Go McGill! Choose McGill!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Heh. Good advice.

I am in a fog now. Cramps tolerable. Brain not. I made someone a logo today. I'm hoping that not only do they like it, but that I spelled things right. Usually I only stress on the them liking it part.

Really not worth saying twice.

Thrive to spite them

The main library branch was built on land that at the time was being used as over flow parking for three churches.

It's also got one way streets on all sides.

All three churches have Wednesday activities so there is pretty much no on street parking.

There was a library overflow lot, but that's now turned into some kind of permit parking.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I would like it noted for the record, although I am horrible about fines--I ALWAYS return the books. Unless they are completely lost or damaged beyond repair. Honest.

Punishingly Intricate

this actually ended up being the only time I was ever in trouble in school, but that's neither here nor there

Through elementary/middle school and really most of high school, the only time I got in trouble was when I wrote "Fuck You" up on the board while Miss Foster was out of the room. I had to sit in a little cubby hole for 1/2 an hour or so but I kind of think she didn't tell my parents. I was never punished at home for it. Miss Foster ruled. I was not saying "Fuck You" to her at all! It just seemed like it would be a funny thing to write on the door.

Cindy, your dad gave good advice!

ION it is 82 degrees in my office. HR just decreed that we can wear shorts tomorrow. woowhatev. I dug up emails from TWO years ago talking about this very same problem. And about how the management company was going to fix everything up. feh.

Thank god we'll be out of this building in the fall.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I have some serious fines waiting for me at the library. Sigh. In my defense, I did have a broken face and lots of Percoset. Such things help to make you forget that there are books to return.
