[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

A dramatic series set against an illegal cross-country road race and its players and origins.

Sounds familiar . . .

Wasn't that a movie in the 70s?

I'm telling you, it's Cannonball Run. Burt Reynolds, Dom Deluise and wacky highjinks.

Nope, I'm thinking Death Race 2000

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

The Gumball Rally was 1976.

Raul Julia as Franco Bertollini: "And now my friend, the first rule of Italian driving." ::rips off his rear view mirror and throws it out of the car:: "What's behind me is not important."

The Cannonball Run was 1981. Not as good, IMHO.

edited for spelling

I was thinking Vanishing Point which is one of those great movies that needs to be watched at 2am in the morning.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

the plot summary of Death Race 2000:

In the near future the ultimate sporting event is the deathrace. Contestants get score points for running people down as they speed across the country.

c'mon! it's totally Tim! Lots of death!

Hey. New board.

I would just like to say that Death Race 2000 was one of the funniest terrible movies I've ever seen.

Gruesome death! Sylvester Stallone! That guy from Kill Bill (and eight trillion bad movies, apparently, I am so uncultured)! Breasts!

It's got it all.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'd just like to take credit for being the first one to mention Death Race 2000 in this thread.

A One that isn't cold, is scarcely A One at all.

Classic.

The Last Chase (1981)

"This futuristic adventure stars Lee Majors as a former racing champ who reassembles his old Porsche and drives to California in a world where cars have been outlawed by the powers that be."

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

A dramatic series set against an illegal cross-country road race and its players and origins.

Is the only reason it's illegal because they're breaking the speed limit? Because they should also break other laws like "Don't drive on top of houses" and "Hitting pedestrians does NOT get you two hundred points."
