[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.
For the blurb on Batman, they don't mention Christian Bale. Tsk, tsk.
Which was the Wonderfalls episode Tim said should hook us? Was it Muffin Buffalo, perhaps?
"Crime Dog"?
If it wasn't the pilot, there was a miscalculation.
At some point, he said that there was a particular post-pilot episode that should make us fall in love with the character.
Or maybe I need to lay off the drugs.
Pink Flamingos was the one that got me. I was iffy before.
The pilot's teaser did the trick for me, but I think it was "Pink Flamingos" that was discussed as a gateway episode.
I think I loved Wonderfalls more immediately than I've ever loved anything else, except possibly Freaks and Geeks. I'd say Buffy, but I didn't expect to love Buffy. I expected to mock Buffy, and was in denial about my love for a little while, so I can't accurately determine when it began.
Wonderfalls, Freaks and Geeks, My So-Called Life, Dead Like Me, The Inside, and Gilmore Girls were all first scene loves for me.
Angel, Buffy, Firefly, Joan of Arcadia, Veronica Mars, and Once and Again were all slower builders.
And... that's pretty much the list of my major show loves. Everything else has been a brief, torrid affair. Actually, Dead Like Me was too, but I loved the pilot so much it needed inclusion. And The Inside hasn't really had the opportunity to be anything else. Sigh.
