The women's final was brutal -- longest women's final both in games and time elapsed in the open era.
The score doesn't show how much Lindsay bettered Venus in the first set -- I thought it was another Williams choke, myself. But Venus summoned all she had both at the close of the first (fruitlessly) and at the close of the second -- and she didn't fall back, even though they went past where they'd have played tiebreak in other tournaments.
Really great tennis.
But he played well? And it just wasn't enough?
Oh, he was good. But Federer's ability to get the passing shot in -- you could just see Roddick's shoulders fall every time a good one slid past his reach.
which GL do you get in the mornings? Kyle? John? Hal? Just curious, you know.
Well, if she answered that personal, I think it's John. Hey, as long as it's not Guy.
it's King's Island. Man, it's been a long time since I've been there.
I found a stack of pictures of me with cartoon characters from Kings Island. I'm officially weirded out by them.
Ita -- I liked that Roddick quote from your earlier post. I think that Venus and Lindsay really do have a good rivalry, particulary when both are on their games as they were on Saturday.
The commentators were talking like Lindsay was on the way out ... you get that impression, sumi?
Roddick is a doll! He has funny ads and cheerful interview soundbytes.
Hi. I just thought I'd pop in to say that I'm not dead yet. My 6 hour trip to northern MI turned into an 18 hour trip with an unscheduled overnight stay near Grand Rapids (which left me a couple hundred dollars lighter), but was otherwise uneventful. My summer promises to be very busy. All the stuff I used to do in 8 weeks now has to be accomplished in 6 weeks, and I teach an extra hour every day. I'm gonna miss the play time we used to have.

Somewhere there exists a picture of me with Captain Caveman. I was scared of him at the time, but I always loved the picture later, like it was proof that I survived the encounter.
Not from the way she was playing!
Steph survived Captain Caveman! EXCELLENT!
Is Dick Clarke dead?
Also, I'm watching parts of Live 8 on AOL.
This is what I've learned.
- I am an old fogey cause I don't recognize many of the bands.
- My love of Michael Stipe does not allow forgiveness of the face paint.
- Pink Floyd looks OLD. Not rode hard put away wet, just looking their age. The drummer? resembles a newscaster or a friend of Richard Nixon.
- Pink Floyd SOUNDS old. Their voices have changed.
- On the other hand? Bryan Adams has NOT aged at all. What's that about? Deal with the devil? Some sort of Canadian/Chapeau conspiracy?
- Chris Martin is like an uglier version of Jude Law.
- Matt Pokora is surprisingly hunky. go the third photo in the paris gallery.
- I'm too old and crabby to go to a big rock festival ever again. This is a good thing to know about oneself.
