Emmett looks so grown up it's amazing.
Vw--your teacher sounds really awesome.
So, I almost got a chance to talk to the police tonight. Mom left town last Tuesday and won't get back until next Tuesday. I've been going over there and looking after her cat. Mostly spending time scritching his chin and giving him love because the food part is easy. Her cat, Vien, originally belonged to the woman across the street and he'll still go over there. She wasn't around when Mom left --- she's not home a lot, plus she has an ever changing array of cars.
So tonight I bop over to Mom's and go inside and start calling for Vien who I don't see.
Lady Next Door comes out and asks who I am. Um, Mom's daughter, then she recognizes me and starts asking is Mom okay? Did something happen? And that she'd just called the police because Vien had been over there a lot and Mom's car hadn't moved all weekend.
I told her no! mom's out of town! So she got back on the phone with the police and cancelled her call. I assured her Vien could get in and out and was being well fed and was just lonely.
Then I went and called Mom, but I didn't get a chance to go over there and express Mom's thanks for worrying about her. Mom didn't tell any neighbors because, well, there's no one to tell because almost everyone who lives around her is rental or she doesnt' know well enough.
It was interesting. I hung out at Mom's and watched ESPN2 and House.
Stupid news story of the day:
Marina Bai has sued the U.S. space agency, claiming the Deep Impact probe that punched a crater into the comet Tempel 1 late Sunday "ruins the natural balance of forces in the universe," the newspaper Izvestia reported Tuesday.
Heh. When the universe wants to correct the balance of things, Marina, it'll take care of that without a lawsuit.
I'm gonna sue that woman for harshing my mellow.
Fay, considering I just skipped almost 200 posts, so I feel ya! Don't worry about not latching onto all the details. Yup, it's a permanent move rather than a visit.
Lots of ppl here need hugs, tea and sympathy.
Yet, here is me, going on with the memememe news.
Was out and about today, driving around Faribault by myself for the first time. I only got lost twice. The line of work I planned to apply for here prefers a valid Minnesota drivers' license. So before taking my completed application to the office a few blocks away, I drove to the other side of town to trade in my AZ license. No go. Minnesota state government is having a budget-related shut-down. So the examiners who administer the written test are not working.
Figured I'd go put in my application anyway. Walked up to the desk, said, "Hi, I just moved her from Arizona, and I have six years' experience working with Developmentally Disabled adults. Here's my application, which you so kindly mailed to me a few weeks ago in anticipation of my move."
Personnel person said, "When can you start?"
"Tomorrow."
Personnel person had astonished look on her face.
"Well, if you really need me, I could start today."
Personnel person became gleeful. And offered me my choice of shifts. Then asked if I had time in my schedule tomorrow to do pre-employment paperwork. I said my schedule tomorrow involved unpacking, playing with cats, and napping. "If you can fit us in, that would be good." So I smiled, and pulled out my calendar, and pencilled them in.
Yay, Windsparrow! Go you!
Holy crap, Andi, that's awesome!

She is just a very pretty girl.
Holy crap, Andi, that's awesome!
