Gronk. Back from a day that started with breakfast with Sparky and didn't stop until we got home about ten minutes ago.
Am increasingly cranky WRT 4th of July stuff, in large part because of being down in my parents' neighborhood this evening. In the years since I moved out, there has been an increase in younger (read 40 somethings with teen children) people living there (when I was growing up, there were still a lot of old people, but they've died off), and their fuckwit children and their fuckwit children's fuckwit friends crowd the place with their SUVs and illegal fireworks and drunken fratboy antics. Gah. Forgot how much I hate where I grew up (well, the people--the location is gorgeous).
Have I mentioned the plucky, can-do spirit of a bunch of bored, rich white people who every year have a drive to raise tens of thousands of dollars for a fireworks display off the Point? I swear to DOG, it brings out my inner commie, and all I can see is wealth that should be re-distributed.
Feh.
If it makes you feel any better, Ple, JZ is almost done with her hand decorated onesie for Lilybean. It's amazing what you can do with a bleach pencil.
People make me meh. We hates them but they are everywhere so we simply tries to ignore them muches of the time.
I am not sleepy but I am far more relaxed. I am hoping sleepy is just lurking and will soon come to visit.
I got a brief email from a friend thanking me for what I thought was just basic human kindness and being nice. It's making me smile.
I guess I don't hate all people. Just most of them. Like the idiot driving around beeping his horn.
Fucks with my zen.

Yay!
Except for my Inner Marxist coming out to play (dude, I thought I smushed her ass with Atlas Shrugged), and my Lingering Sense of Moral Outrage, it's been a nice day. Hung with Sparky, Pete and Jilli, and friends of the family (the reason we were in the old 'hood) before winding up at the house of my parents. Had some kick-ass ribs, a glass of wine, and took in the amazing view from S and J's beach cottage. (It's set on a hillside, and in addition to an incredible view, they have an amazing garden that I know was a lot of money and effort, yet looks as though it should always have looked that way--very peaceful spot.)
Plei is me with the inner communist and looking at money spent that could buy people food. I think mine's congenital, but I keep trying to keep it damped down enough to coexist in today's society.
I have no idea why I'm up again. Oooh--Quantum Leap's on--the football ep!

Sounds like it was worth every penny and drop of sweat. Peaceful spots should be cherished like this.
Fay, they're moving in together after a very long long distance courtship.
Cool. Thought so, but hadn't seen it explicitly stated anywhere - evidently missed it in skipping and skimming and suchlike. Go Team.
Not having much luck with the online dating thing so far. I've decided to add a line:
If you let me cook for you, I will treat you like a goddess ("Please accept these burnt offerings").
Heh.
Today is one of those days when I wake up early and can't get back to sleep. So I think I'll leave for work an hour early and have a nice breakfast in Evanston before going in to the office. Maybe at the Cajun plance. Mmmmm... grits....
