To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice, with pie.

Spike's Bitches 24: I'm Very Seldom Naughty.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

information libertarian

I have no advice on baby sleep. I prayed to the magic sleep fairies for 18 months before I got some relief, and I'm still up at 3 am several nights a week. You wanna talk about bad mommies...

Okay, I do have a piece of advice. Ear plugs.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Aimee, are you keeping track of how long you wait from when she wakes up until you go and fetch her? We're following the "wait 5 minutes to see if she settles" rule, and it seems to work fairly well. If she's going to settle, it will happen in those 5 minutes, and if it doesn't, we're doomed.

What is even happening?

Letting her cry it out would be ideal, but when she's in our room, it's hard.
Yeah, and when you both (or even one of you) have to work in the morning, it's not like you can afford to be toast. We always tried to try new sleep things on the weekends, preferably long weekends. Besides, there's only so long you can do the let-them-cry-it-out thing, before you start to feel cruel.

Also, we've been getting her on a bedtime routine so she knows when it's bedtime and it was going well and it went to shit when she was sick.

Ugh. That happens a lot. It also probably just means it's mostly habit with her and that you can get it back with some work.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Aimee, are you keeping track of how long you wait from when she wakes up until you go and fetch her?

We do. Sometimes it works, it hasn't been the past couple of nights. Mind you, this is just a couple of nights old, but I want to nip it in the bud before it gets to be a bigger problem.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Hey All.

Happy Birthday Hec!

Happy Birthday deb!

Happy Birthday Nic!

Also, the new kitty's name is Trixie Belden Girl Detective.

I was totally gonna suggest Trixie! 'Cause I saw the Tara quote about calling their kitten Trixie or Miss Kitty Fantastico! I feel so a part of it all! You caught my kitty name vibes! (Stopping now).

Once again, Java has excellent taste in tiaras. All of these:

I’m not into the crown look personally, but for those who are, this is cool, and one of the sparkliest I’ve seen: [link]
I like almost all the tiara-floral ones except the big crowns, with a preference for anything with S curves in it, like this: [link] or this [link

Drat, looks like the links didn't stay linky. Anyway, liked the flower ones she picked, and the first non-flowery crowny one, too.

et fix the colors

Ann, that's a ferret.

I'ma get a kitty and name her Honey.

You should have been at our vet's open house on Sunday. Many cute kitties up for adoption, some as young as 2 months.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I just sent off my writing samples to the pharma in Connecticut.

Hope they like them

*is supremely worried*

Okay, well, I'd be more worried if their posting weren't for WRITERS, making it sound like they're putting together a whole goddamn medical writing team since they are just. That. New. Or something.

Huh. I just realized they're not actually a pharmaceutical company. "Envision Pharma provides commercially focused, scientifically driven medical communications."

...'kay.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

having skipped and skimmed frantically, I'm now caught up in Bitches!

Happy birthday to everyone whose birthday I've missed!

Fred Pete and Hubs - good luck with the new cats. May peace and purring soon reign in your home.

Deena - glad to hear the kids survived pulling the stove over. And - if you're interested - last fall one of the bead magazines printed instructions for making a tiara. I dug it out and wasn't very impressed - but if you're interested in seeing it, I could copy and mail it to you (profile addy good).

And someone - meara? - posted about using duct tape on skin. I saw something about this on TV once - seemingly the trick is you press the sticky side of the duct tape to a towel before sticking it to you. This seems to reduce the stickiness enough that it actually comes off without taking the skin with it.

And P-C, for what it's worth I survived YEARS of my mother nagging at me for wasting my education. After many years of hearing how well my sister was doing in retailing, she's finally accepted that what I do is actually something worthwhile. (snarkily, my sister is on a long downward slide in her career)
