I had a b&j sandwich for breakfast and he came and rested his chin on my knee and gazed up at me soulfully while I ate.

My grandfather's dog used to do that. It was almost unbearably sweet (though we would all get grumpy at him and his GF for always caving in to the soulful eyes--that poor chubby dog).

Re baby names, I woke up this morning from a dream in which, while trapped in a motel/public library during a Midwestern hailstorm, I had the revelation that the best possible name for the Zmayhem spawn (should we have any and should it be a girl) was Ozma Smay, though we would then have to move to an artists' colony so that Ozma wouldn't get teased.

My boss's dog does that. I've never seen a dog do that before.

I suppose dogs and cats that can successfully manipulate humans have an evolutionary advantage.

Also, people with pets live longer than people without. So you could say that dogs and cats are selectively breeding us humans to be pet lovers.

I think Ozma's a great name. Though exotic first names go best with plain last names. Ozma Jones, that's an action star waiting to happen.
