Our place has little doorways and skinny halls leading into the bedrooms so they had to remove the bedroom doors to get the armoirs/dressers/beds in. No big.

Oh Nora, I hope you guys get to the enjoying it stage, really soon. At least now, your housing costs are relatively fixed. When you rent, you're at the mercy of the landlord, and your home can be sold out from under you at any time.

I think once we get moved in things will be awesome. The stress is two pronged - the house buying as well as the actual moving. A week from now, we'll be in a better, if more exhausted, place.

Oh, Nora! You poor thing! I agree with Cindy, though. It'll be better once you're in the house.

Ugh.

There is a disadvantage to being a patient at a teaching hospital. The doctors finish their residency and go on to other practices/hospitals/etc. I called to make two different appointments this morning...one with my PCP, the other with my neurologist...both are leaving the hospital, so I have to see new doctors/residents. So frustrating, after building a relationship with these doctors for two years. I'm most disappointed about my PCP. She has really been with me since I first moved out to Boston and started having trouble. Whenever I was hospitalized, she would come see me every day. I could page her with any questions, etc. She really was wonderful. I'm going to miss her a lot.

And now it's finally over. Whew.

This is the situation at the basic clinic Hubby and I go to. Our first doctor there was this amazing woman, Dr. Springer, who actually believed her patients and wasn't afraid to ask her mentors for help when she wasn't certain about things. She gave me a hug when I was first diagnosed with diabetes, which I appreciated even though my brain was going "Authority figure hugging me! Does not compute!"

She went on her way in the fullness of time, and we were sad.

Last year, Hubby goes in for a checkup with the latest fresh-from-medical-school kid, who goes to get a mentor. Who should walk in with Baby!Doc but Dr. Springer, who is now a mentor in her own right. She remembers Hubby and they have a brief chat, and Dr. Springer gives Baby!Doc a gentle lesson on "Some of the people who come to the FAmily Practice Clinic are very well educated and are very well informed on their conditions, and you should be very grateful because they'll do have your work for you in regards to assessment. Your job with these folks is to give them the tools to continue what they're doing."

I love Dr. Springer.
